Job Description
Reporting to the Chef and Sous Chef, the Brunch Cook prepares and cooks breakfast and brunch dishes to O&B standards. You'll run your station during busy morning and weekend services, making sure every plate goes out consistent, beautifully presented and on time. This role is ideal for a cook who loves the energy of brunch service and takes pride in getting the details right.
The day to day:
- Prepare and cook brunch and breakfast dishes to O&B standards
- Follow recipes, portion controls and plating specifications set by the restaurant
- Set up and stock your station before service, and complete the daily prep list
- Work efficiently during high-volume weekend brunch services, keeping ticket times on track
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to keep service running smoothly
- Follow the FIFO (first in, first out) method to ensure freshness and minimize waste
- Help with food inventory and stock control
- Help receive deliveries, check them for quality, and store them properly
- Keep food prep areas, equipment and utensils clean and organized, following all sanitation, food safety and hygiene guidelines
- Follow WHMIS guidelines and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Break down, clean and restock your station at the end of each shift
- Carry out tasks delegated by the Sous Chef, Chef and/or General Manager
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a line cook in a full-service restaurant
- Experience with breakfast or brunch service is an asset
- Strong knowledge of egg cookery and classic breakfast techniques
- Ability to stay calm, organized and efficient in a fast-paced kitchen
- A strong eye for detail and consistency in plating
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Food Handler Certification is an asset
- This is a part time position
- Availability for early mornings, weekends and holidays - shifts would be Saturday & Sunday along with long weekend Mondays - 7/8am to 3/4pm.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
