About this role

The Assistant Center Store Sales Manager is responsible for aggressively and creatively driving sales and profits in assigned categories and communicating initiatives to retail in a timely manner to monitor and maximize results. Provide Ultimate Service, Superior Performance, Positive Impact.

Key Responsibilities:

- Act as the master merchant in assigned categories by creating complete sales and merchandising plans for retail execution, to meet the specific needs of our guests in each of our retail brands and maximize their sales and profit potential.

- Evaluate categories and are responsible for financial performance across a variety of indicators - sales, gross profit, markdowns and market share.

- Provide analysis and develop recommendations for category and consumer trends.

- Coordinate with LSM Annual sets in each of the following departments: Beer, Wine, and Spirits.

- Identify and understand competition's impact on the category and provide recommendations to grow category market share.

- Evaluate item assortment and create recommendations for efficient assortment to meet consumer needs and maximize inventory turns.

- Evaluate current pricing structure and provide recommendations for category sales growth.

- Create recommendations for new item placements and category schematic.

- Formulate ad writing recommendations on promotional items to maximize sales

- Develop the "go to market" strategy for each category of responsibility. Align this with, the timing/season, of the ad planning and display planning process.

- Responsible for evaluating, implementation, compliance and results of category development plans.

- Develop strategies for product assortment and price versus competition.

- Develop a store brand strategy in each category to maximize distribution and profits related to the primary competitor.

- Support best in class category management standard

- Performs other duties as requested or required by supervisor

Key Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree of 3-5 years of related experience in category management

- Merchandising and/or category management experience

- Ability to lead, adapt to and influence change in organizational process and practices

- Strong interpersonal skills for developing positive and efficient working relationships with partners and team members

- Proficient in Microsoft Office

- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, some overnight required

- Demonstrates actions and results biased toward achieving the company's visions, values and strategic goals

- Fosters an empowered learning and high-performance environment

- Ongoing business knowledge development as required by assigned categories

- Ability to gain trust, respect, and buy-in from all levels of the organization

- Strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task

- Ability to create, implement and monitor effective business plans

- A minimum work schedule of 40 hour per week is required. There will be times when 50+ hour will be required.

- Strong communication and negotiation skills

- Ability to work independently without supervision and effectively manage time

- Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude.
