Job Summary
The Test Debug Engineer is responsible for executing validation tests, troubleshooting basic hardware and firmware issues, collecting diagnostic data, and supporting root cause investigations on server, compute and networking rack. This position provides support for manufacturing, validation, and quality improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Validation. Execute functional, stress, thermal, burn-in, and reliability tests on server and rack platforms. Validate CPU, memory, storage, networking, and GPU subsystems. Verify BIOS, BMC, and firmware functionality. Perform server bring-up and manufacturing qualification testing. Responsible for test process instructions (TPI) generation and production operator trainings.
Debug & Troubleshooting. Troubleshot hardware failures and test station issues. Collect BIOS logs, BMC logs, SEL logs, and Linux diagnostic information. Analyze system boot failures and hardware detection issues. Assist in reproducing customer and manufacturing failures.
Root Cause Analysis Support. Gather failure evidence and diagnostic data. Assist senior engineers in RCA investigations. Document findings and corrective action recommendations. Maintain failure tracking records.
Technical Skills
- Basic server architecture knowledge.
- Linux commands (dmesg, journalctl, lspci, dmidecode).
- BIOS configuration and firmware flashing.
- BMC/IPMI fundamentals.
- Basic networking concepts.
- Python scripting fundamentals.
- Basic SQL/MySQL queries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (preferably Industrial or Mechanical), or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Established analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong continuous improvement mindset to drive and identify improvement plans.
