About this role

As a Staff Network Infrastructure Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will play a critical role in managing and executing network infrastructure projects from start to finish. You will work closely with the design team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to complete projects on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Your technical expertise, organizational skills, and ability to communicate effectively will be key in coordinating the work across construction, network, and facilities.

This position is based in the Tesla Austin Gigafactory.

Tesla is a fast moving, dynamic environment where flexibility and adaptability are key attributes needed for success. The successful candidate will be a self-starter; motivated, with strong end-to-end program management expertise.

- Manage network infrastructure projects and lead cross-functional, global, and matrixed teams across hardware, software, construction, and facilities. Build strong working relationships between those teams so the program stays aligned from kickoff through closeout
- Project Planning: Define the project scope, objectives, deliverables, and work breakdown structure. Develop comprehensive project plans that outline the tasks, resources, and sequence of work required
- Project Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project schedules that include all project activities, dependencies, and milestones. Use scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or Primavera to build detailed Gantt charts and timelines. Identify the critical path and prioritize tasks on that path so the project does not slip
- Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly review progress against the baseline schedule and adjust as needed. Use earned schedule management techniques to forecast future performance and identify schedule slippage early. Conduct weekly progress meetings with the project team to surface scope gaps, risks, project goals, and recovery plans, and communicate schedule status to stakeholders through regular updates and reports
- Monitor project costs and expenses, comparing actuals against the budget. Track and review contractor invoices, compare baseline to actual, and report variances. Identify cost-saving opportunities and suggest value engineering alternatives
- Own project buy-out, including developing bid packages, working with Procurement to issue RFPs, writing contracts and Scopes of Work, and issuing Work Orders
- Read, interpret, and implement Contract Documents, Project Drawings, and Specifications. Coordinate with contractors, Design/Engineering, and QA/Commissioning so the work in the field matches the documents
- Track site execution and inspections to ensure work is performed according to safety guidelines and quality standards, and remains compliant with regulatory requirements, local authorities, industry standards, and codes
- Leadership and Communication: Present to senior leadership, manage vendors and customers, and resolve issues in ambiguous or high-pressure environments

- Degree in Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years' experience in commercial technical program/project management, or engineering
- Experience managing projects in large manufacturing or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, codes, regulations, and safety protocols
- Experience reading, interpreting, and implementing Contract Documents, Project Drawings, and Specifications
- Proficiency with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or Primavera
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure DevOps is a plus
- Ability to problem solve, multitask, and prioritize project objectives
