Responsibilities:
- Dispatch medical ambulance crews assigned to emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Input requests for service and relevant information from area fire departments. Communicate regarding safety, unit availability, and ETAs.
- Collaborate with other SSCs.
- Maintain accurate, legible dispatch records to determine emergency medical crew availability.
- Maintain positive communication and collaboration with hospital emergency departments regarding incoming calls.
- Provide and maintain an accurate, legible log of completed and canceled calls.
- Provide informative briefings for the relief dispatcher.
- Attend department staff meetings, relevant in-services, workshops, and/or seminars.
- Effectively interact with customers to understand their needs and explain information.
- Train to competency on inputting fire department calls and radio interactions with fire department dispatch centers and apparatus.
- Train to competency on dispatching and monitoring ambulance units assigned to emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Up to 1 year of related experience or customer service experience.
- IAED certification and NM EMD license.
- BLS certification required.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively via telephone, in person, and in writing.
