About this role

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Operations Manager the Maintenance Operations Lead serves as a working lead responsible for performing maintenance duties while providing daily guidance and coordination for maintenance staff. The Maintenance Operations Lead assists in maintaining the safety, functionality, appearance, and accessibility of all Ampla Health facilities and grounds. This position works alongside maintenance personnel, helps prioritize work assignments, monitors work order completion, and serves as a resource for maintenance staff.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

1) Facility Maintenance and Repairs

a) Performs skilled maintenance and repairs involving electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, drywall, roofing, locks, and other building components.

b) Inspects facilities, responds to service requests and emergencies, and identifies maintenance needs and safety concerns.

c) Installs, repairs, assembles, and relocates furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

d) Supports preventive maintenance, renovations, groundskeeping, and the upkeep of facility exteriors.

2) Team Leadership and Coordination

a) Serves as a working lead by assigning and prioritizing daily tasks while working alongside maintenance staff.

b) Trains, guides, and supports employees in maintenance procedures, equipment operation, and safe work practices.

c) Monitors work quality and completion and communicates operational concerns to the Maintenance Operations Manager.

d) Coordinates coverage and serves as the maintenance point of contact when the manager is unavailable.

3) Work Order and Preventive Maintenance Management

a) Assigns and monitors work orders to promote accurate and timely completion.

b) Coordinates preventive maintenance activities, scheduled inspections, and recurring repairs.

c) Maintains records of completed work, inspections, equipment repairs, and recurring facility issues.

d) Recommends corrective actions and process improvements.

4) Safety and Compliance

a) Promotes compliance with safety policies, personal protective equipment requirements, and safe work practices.

b) Identifies and reports hazards and supports compliance with applicable building, fire, safety, and environmental requirements.

c) Maintains safe, clean, and orderly work areas, tools, and equipment.

5) Inventory and Operational Support

a) Monitors maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment and coordinates replenishment, receiving, and organization.

b) Assists the Maintenance Operations Manager with departmental operations, projects, staffing shortages, and emergencies.

c) Identifies opportunities to improve facility reliability, response times, and maintenance operations.

6) Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1) High school graduate or equivalent required.

2) Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction trades, or related field.

3) Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.

4) Knowledge of general building maintenance practices and repair procedures.

5) Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, ladders, lifts, landscape equipment, and maintenance equipment safely.

6) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and work orders.

7) Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

8) Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

9) Proficient in using maintenance work order systems and basic computer applications.

10) Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

1) Must have neat and legible handwriting

2) Must be able to interact with patients courteously and calmly

3) Ability to communicate well with the public

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employee must possess the following physical requirements:

1) Works in both indoor and outdoor environments across multiple clinic locations.

2) Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and reach.

3) Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.

4) Must be able to climb ladders and access roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and elevated work areas.

5) Must be able to operate vehicles and travel to various Ampla Health locations.

6) Must be able to hear, speak, and communicate effectively in person, by radio, and by telephone.

7) May be required to respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies.

8) Must have vision adequate to read memos, a computer screen, forms and documents

9) Must have high manual dexterity

Qualifications
