Operational Forestry Internships

Operational Forestry Interns gain exposure to timber sales, silvicultural planning, forest management, and other aspects of Rayonier’s forestry operations.

Assignments may include:

- Conducting field measurements using forestry tools and data recorders
- Completing field reconnaissance, mapping, and timber inventory assignments
- Supporting timber market research and analysis
- Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
- Assisting with timber sales and silvicultural planning
- Supporting additional forestry projects as assigned

Operational Forestry Internships may be available throughout Rayonier’s U.S. land base.

Forestry Research Internship

The Forestry Research Intern gains hands-on experience supporting Rayonier’s silvicultural and genetic research programs.

Assignments may include:

- Installing and monumenting research trials
- Supporting seed orchard activities
- Collecting DNA samples
- Assisting with greenhouse operations and research seedling production
- Conducting mapping and other research activities using GIS
- Supporting additional forestry research projects as assigned

This internship is based in Alamo, Georgia, and may require daily or overnight travel throughout Southeast Georgia and Florida.

Compensation and Benefits

- $20 Sophomore $22 Junior $24 Senior $25 Grad
- $3000 housing allowance
- Cell phone allowance, when applicable
- Safety boot reimbursement, when required
- Mileage reimbursement for authorized business travel at the applicable company rate

Qualifications

Candidates must:

- Be currently enrolled as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student
- Be pursuing a degree in Forestry, Forest Management, Forest Engineering, Natural Resources, or a closely related field
- Be available for a 10- to 12-week summer internship
- Be self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Be willing to travel as required by the assignment
- Provide reliable personal transportation
- Have access to a four-wheel-drive vehicle and be able to safely navigate forest roads
- Be comfortable working independently in remote outdoor locations
- Be able to work in varying weather and field conditions, including heat, rain, and uneven terrain
