About this role

Come join us at Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced, Generation IV nuclear reactors.  We are growing our workforce to develop and deploy our Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) small modular nuclear plant to provide cost-competitive, clean firm heat and power to industry.

- Have the specific skillset and experience for the following role:

The Category Buyer – Nuclear Services , reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, is primarily responsible for executing day-to-day purchasing activities in support of the Company’s nuclear projects, including issuing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining supplier documentation. The role supports procurement process discipline and regulatory compliance under the direction of the Procurement Manager.

Other Responsibilities Include:

Purchase order execution

- Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders in accordance with approved requisitions, pricing, and delivery requirements.

Supplier coordination

- Coordinate with suppliers on order confirmations, delivery schedules, and documentation, and follow up to resolve delays or discrepancies.

Regulatory and export control support

- Support compliance with applicable nuclear regulatory requirements (including NRC and CNSC), export control regulations, Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations,  in day-to-day purchasing activities.

Documentation and record keeping

- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier files, and purchase order documentation in the Company’s procurement and ERP systems.

Cross-functional support

- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Project teams to confirm specifications, delivery timelines, and any special handling or documentation requirements.

Supplier qualification support

- Assist with collecting supplier documentation and information in support of the Company’s Approved Suppliers List (ASL) process.

- Basic working knowledge of nuclear regulatory and export control requirements as they apply to purchasing.

- Ability to work effectively within a procurement team and support cross-functional partners.

Requirements

- A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or buying, including experience in the nuclear industry.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

- Familiarity with nuclear regulatory requirements such as NRC and CNSC, including 10 CFR.

- Familiarity with export control requirements

- Experience issuing and tracking purchase orders and working with suppliers.

- Experience with ERP or procurement systems (e.g., Oracle SCM, SAP Ariba, or Coupa).

- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

- Ability to travel occasionally within North America as required.

Assets

- Experience in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) or advanced reactor programs.

- Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent.

- Experience working in a multi-site or global procurement organization.
