The Hostess warmly welcomes hotel restaurant guests, coordinates reservations and seating, and maintains an organized and inviting entrance. This position supports efficient restaurant service by managing waitlists and table rotations and communicating with servers, bussers, and restaurant leadership.

Prerequisites:

- Company associates have access to guestrooms and property. Honesty and trustworthiness are essential and must be displayed at all times. Per company policy, potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.
- Previous hospitality, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred.
- Clear, courteous communication skills for in-person and telephone interactions.
- Ability to organize reservations, waitlists, and seating assignments during busy periods.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
- Ability to bend, reach, and carry menus and light restaurant supplies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and associates and use reservation and seating systems.

Requirements

Knowledge:

- Understands guest service standards, restaurant seating flow, table rotations, and reservation procedures.
- Familiarity with restaurant menus, hours of operation, and hotel amenities.
- Knowledge of basic cleanliness, sanitation, and workplace safety practices.

Skills:

- Clear, polite verbal communication and professional telephone etiquette.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and multitasking skills.
- Effective teamwork and problem-solving skills during high-volume service.

Abilities:

- Ability to welcome guests warmly and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
- Ability to manage floor flow, provide accurate wait estimates, and adjust seating as conditions change.
- Ability to respond to guest concerns courteously and involve management when needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

- Greet guests promptly with a smile and provide a welcoming first impression.
- Confirm party size, reservations, and seating preferences; escort guests to their tables and provide menus.
- Coordinate table rotations, seating assignments, and server stations with restaurant leadership to maintain balanced service.
- Answer telephone calls courteously, book reservations, and maintain accurate reservation records and waitlists.
- Provide realistic wait estimates and update guests when seating becomes available.
- Communicate table availability, guest requests, large parties, and service concerns to servers, bussers, and management.
- Keep the host stand, menus, entryway, and waiting area clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Assist servers and bussers by clearing or wiping tables and distributing menus as needed.
- Follow hotel and brand service standards, safety procedures, and sanitation requirements.
- Address guest concerns professionally and refer unresolved issues to restaurant leadership.
- Maintain a professional appearance and support a respectful, cooperative work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned that the associate is capable of performing as staffing needs arise.
