Building Maintenance Worker

What this job involves:

As a Building Maintenance Worker at JLL, you'll play an essential role in keeping our client's property running smoothly and safely. You'll perform a variety of routine and semi-skilled maintenance tasks across the facility, including basic plumbing repairs like fixing faucets and clearing drains, electrical work such as replacing receptacles and lighting, and carpentry tasks including ceiling tile replacement and installation of whiteboards and fixtures. Working both independently on familiar assignments and alongside skilled technicians on more complex projects, you'll help maintain the building's equipment, systems, and grounds to the highest standards. What your day-to-day will look like:

- Perform routine plumbing repairs including fixing faucets, unclogging toilets and drains, and replacing valves under supervision
- Replace light bulbs, LED bulbs, and fluorescent lighting fixtures throughout assigned areas
- Complete basic electrical repairs such as replacing outlets, switches, and other receptacles
- Execute carpentry tasks including ceiling tile replacement, installing door stops, adjusting shelving, and mounting items like whiteboards and equipment
- Assist the Heating Department with continuous cleaning of ventilation systems and changing filters in assigned areas
- Inspect work conditions to ensure compliance with operating and safety standards, documenting time and materials used
- Use and maintain hand and power tools including hammers, drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, and saws in accordance with safety protocols
- Clean and organize work areas, breakrooms, shop spaces, and personal tools to maintain a professional environment
- Support skilled maintenance technicians with more complex repairs and may assist with after-hours emergency response when assigned

Required qualifications:

- 2-4 years of construction or facility maintenance trades experience
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, including blueprints and schematic drawings
- Capability to perform manual labor indoors and outdoors for extended periods in various conditions
- Physical ability to lift and move objects, climb ladders, work at heights greater than ten feet, and access small or cramped spaces
- Ability to stand, kneel, or walk for extended periods while performing maintenance tasks
- Strong attention to safety regulations and consistent practice of safety precautions
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, staff, fellow employees, and the general public
- Must pass background investigation and drug screening due to access requirements for secured building areas

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience working in healthcare or medical center environments
- Familiarity with OSHA safety procedures and facility maintenance best practices
- Demonstrated ability to learn new tasks quickly through on-the-job training and educational opportunities
- Experience maintaining inventory and proper use of maintenance tools and equipment
- Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems

Expected compensation for this position:

35.00 – 35.52 USD per year

Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
