Summary
The Engineering Change Order (ECO) Specialist works under limited direct supervision to oversee, facilitate, and execute engineering change processes across product lifecycles. Drawing on comprehensive domain knowledge and familiarity with interrelated technical and business disciplines, this role ensures that engineering changes are implemented systematically while minimizing financial risk, material exposure, and schedule delays.
The ideal candidate will represent the organization to internal and external customers, assume leadership over project components, and apply sound judgment and creative problem-solving to complex operational challenges.
## Detailed Description
- ECO Implementation & Governance : Facilitate the proper end-to-end implementation of customer Engineering Change Orders by collaborating directly with customer engineering teams and internal Change Control Boards (CCB). Scope includes New Product Introduction (NPI), continuous product improvements, and End-of-Life (EOL) / Excess & Obsolete (E&O) material management.
- Risk, Cost, & Inventory Mitigation : Drive changes through a structured, systematic approach designed to minimize cost exposure, reduce excess material risk, and protect customer delivery commitments.
- Change Control Board (CCB) Leadership : Participate in and lead cross-functional CCB meetings to align stakeholders, review technical impacts, and coordinate implementation strategies.
- Process Metrics & Improvement : Develop, track, and report operational metrics to monitor change management effectiveness. Provide actionable input to refine change management plans, processes, and tools, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Quality Standards & Compliance : Help facilitate Copy Exactly (CE!) methodologies and ensure strict adherence to established quality and configuration standards.
- Customer & Stakeholder Communication : Maintain regular communication with internal and external customer representatives regarding strategy, implementation status, and lessons learned.
- Project & Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with key suppliers, customers, and internal service teams. Lead project components where errors could impact resource expenditure and project milestones.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Change Management Experience : Proven track record in change management implementation within a technical, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- MRP / ERP Systems : Hands-on experience and working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and inventory concepts.
- Technical Acumen : Technically competent to evaluate proposed engineering changes and analyze their downstream impact on manufacturing, supply chain, and cost structures.
- Problem-Solving & Judgment : Ability to develop creative solutions for complex problems using established practices, guidelines, and analytical methods.
- Communication & Collaboration : Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across diverse internal teams and external client organizations.
- Organization & Agility : Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain high attention to detail, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-demand team environment.
- Schedule Flexibility : Willingness to work overtime as required and occasionally adjust work hours to facilitate communication with global/overseas sites.

- Cognitive & Visual Demands : Requires extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on computer monitors, detailed numerical data, and engineering documentation.
- Physical Tasks : Frequent repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, computer mouse usage, calculator operations)
Typical Experience
- Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in engineering change control, configuration management, or technical operations.
Typical Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or Technology), or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on industry experience. (Educational requirements may vary by geographic region).
