To drive business value through decision-shaping analytics, DDSI leverages technology, optimization, simulation, statistics, and machine learning models to explore opportunities and deploy new analytical capabilities.

The Decision Science Product team within DDSI is looking for an intern who will contribute to a highly skilled team of experts across business and technical domains. This role will support the development and improvement of data-driven tools, analytical workflows, and technology-enabled products used by internal Disney business partners. The intern will work closely with Product Engineering, Data Engineering, Application Engineering, Decision Science, and business stakeholders while gaining exposure to how data, software, analytics, and product thinking come together to solve real business problems.

What You Will Do

The intern will be data-driven, business-minded, curious, and collaborative, with a passion for solving business questions through data analysis, software development, and application of analytical products. In this position, you will help transform data into meaningful business insights and support scoped project work that may include data extraction, validation, automation, documentation, testing, dashboard development, or small enhancements to existing products. The role includes working with analytically minded peers and experienced engineers, where you are encouraged to contribute ideas, ask thoughtful questions, research solutions, and communicate progress and learnings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

As an intern, you will make an impact by:

- Assist with data extraction, transformation, validation, and quality checks using SQL and Python or related tools.
- Partner with team members to understand business questions, data sources, existing technical processes, and product workflows.
- Contribute to smaller-scale enhancements, automation opportunities, bug fixes, documentation improvements, or analytical deliverables that integrate into larger business processes.
- Learn how internal applications receive, store, transform, and use data to support business decisions.
- Participate in design discussions, working sessions, sprint planning, testing activities, and team reviews under the guidance of experienced product engineers and decision scientists.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Data Engineering, Application Engineering, Decision Science, and business stakeholders throughout the development process.
- Research technical questions, troubleshoot issues, investigate data discrepancies, and share findings or recommendations with the team.
- Communicate project progress, blockers, insights, and learnings clearly through documentation, presentations, or team updates.
- Build practical experience with software development, data engineering, analytics, product delivery, and stakeholder communication in a professional environment.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Foundational experience with SQL and at least one programming language, preferably Python.
- Familiarity with core software development concepts such as functions, data structures, testing, debugging, and version control.
- Ability to work with structured data and perform basic data analysis, validation, or reporting.
- Ability to build relationships and partner with both technical and non-technical teams
- Confirmed excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of basic database structure
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and adapt to a constantly evolving business environment
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

- Experience with Python libraries such as pandas, NumPy, or similar data analysis tools.
- Exposure to relational databases such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with GitHub, GitLab, Docker, cloud platforms, or cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Exposure to Agile practices, sprint planning, Jira, technical documentation, or collaborative software delivery processes.
- Interest in forecasting, advertising technology, media, entertainment, operations research, machine learning, AI, or revenue management.
- Prior internship, academic project, coding project, research experience, or coursework involving data, analytics, dashboards, or software development.
