Working Title : Groundskeeper
Supervisor : Equipment Manager
General Description of Position : The Groundskeeper keeps the Austin Prestress yard, shop, and buildings clean and presentable, and runs parts and errands for Austin Prestress, Transmountain Equipment, and site staff. Work is on site at 7300 S Hwy 183, Austin, TX 78744. The Plant Manager sets the daily work. This is an active yard with truck and crane traffic, casting and stressing operations, a concrete batch plant, storage and loadout, office buildings and a maintenance shop.
Essential functions and responsibilities listed below :
• Mow, trim, and maintain the grounds, fence lines, and other assigned areas of the yard.
• Pick up trash and debris and keep dumpsters, parking areas, walkways, and the office entrance presentable.
• Keep storm drains and ditches clear of debris that can be removed by hand or with site tools.
• Operate and care for assigned mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools. Fuel, clean, and store equipment at the end of the day.
• Pick up and deliver parts, shop supplies, and similar items as instructed by the supervisor, using assigned company vehicles.
• Clean and restock restrooms, break areas, the office, and the shop on the schedule set by the supervisor. Empty trash and spot-clean common areas frequently.
• Perform minor general maintenance as assigned, including replacing lamps, clearing minor clogs, tightening hardware, changing filters, and basic pest control.
• Follow site safety rules.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Specific Equipment and Materials to be used :
- Riding and push mowers, string trimmers, edgers, blowers, and hand tools assigned for the yard.
- Fuel, oil, and basic small-engine supplies for that equipment.
- Trash bags, pickup tools, and the site dumpsters and roll-offs.
- Company vehicles assigned for parts and errand runs. A CDL is not required.
- Cleaning chemicals, paper goods, mops, brooms, vacuums, and floor-cleaning equipment for the office, buildings, and shop.
- Lamps, filters, hardware, drain tools, and general-use herbicides, insecticides, and pest-control products as assigned.
- PPE issued for the yard.
Safety Policies and Practices : The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual.
Education : High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience and Training :
Prior work on a construction yard, precast plant, or shop. Experience with commercial mowing equipment and basic small-engine care.
Schedule:
Mon – Fri, 8AM to 5PM.
Compensation:
$18-$22 per hour depending on experience
