About this role

LotusWorks is an Engineering Services provider specializing in managing Commissioning, Construction Services, Calibration, Operations & Maintenance scopes of work within global manufacturing facilities. LotusWorks operates globally across EMEA and North America partnering with the world's leading manufacturers across the Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical & Biologics, Medical Device and Data Center sectors. Our team of Engineering and Technical professionals is immersed in cutting-edge technologies and innovations. LotusWorks is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, integral to our people-first approach.

LotusWorks is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Lead to support the commissioning of critical electrical systems within a large-scale data center environment. This role will lead electrical commissioning activities from design review and equipment startup through functional performance testing, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and final turnover. The position will focus on MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, ATS/STS, PDUs, busway, EPMS/SCADA, and related electrical distribution systems. The successful candidate will lead Cx engineers and technicians while coordinating with electrical contractors, NETA testing firms, controls integrators, OEM representatives, and the broader commissioning team to ensure systems are tested, issues are resolved, and the facility is ready for operations.

Responsibilities:

Planning & pre-construction

- Review electrical design documents (one-lines, schedules, specs, protection/coordination study, arc flash study) for commission ability, testing access, and constructability

- Develop the electrical section of the Cx Plan, including test sequencing, prerequisites, and Level 1–5 scope definitions

- Write or review electrical Cx specifications and Division 26 Cx requirements

- Define and track factory witness testing (FWT) requirements for switchgear, gens, UPS, PDUs, STS, ATS, busway

- Coordinate with NETA-certified testing contractor scope; establish the boundary between NETA acceptance testing and Cx functional testing

- Build the electrical Cx schedule and integrate it into the master schedule; identify long-lead test equipment (load banks, primary injection sets) and utility coordination milestones

Test script development

- Author or approve Level 3 (start-up), Level 4 (functional performance), and Level 5 (IST) scripts for: MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators and paralleling gear, ATS/STS, UPS and batteries, PDUs/RPPs, busway, lighting controls, grounding/bonding, EPMS/SCADA, fire alarm interface, and metering

- Define pass/fail criteria tied to the Basis of Design and OPR (transfer times, voltage/frequency tolerances, battery runtime, protection settings)

- Develop failure-mode and concurrent-maintainability test sequences (loss of utility, breaker failure, single-cord vs. dual-cord, load transfer cascades)

Field execution

- Witness and document Level 2/3 installation verification, energization, and start-up

- Direct Level 4 functional testing; verify protection settings match the coordination study; witness relay testing and primary/secondary injection

- Lead electrical portions of Level 5 IST, including load bank testing, pull-the-plug tests, and utility-loss scenarios in coordination with the mechanical lead

- Manage energization and LOTO coordination with the GC/EC safety program; enforce switching orders and approved MOPs

- Verify EPMS/BMS point-to-point, alarm mapping, and trending before functional tests begin

Issues & documentation

- Own the electrical issues log: log, classify (safety/critical/major/minor), track to closure, and verify corrective action via retest

- Review and approve electrical Cx test reports, NETA reports, and vendor start-up reports for completeness and accuracy

- Contribute the electrical sections of the Final Cx Report, including deferred/seasonal tests and outstanding items

- Verify O&M manuals, as-builts, settings files (relay, UPS, gen controllers), and training are delivered before turnover

Coordination & leadership

- Daily interface with the electrical contractor, factory service reps (gen, UPS, switchgear OEMs), NETA firm, controls integrator, and the mechanical Cx lead

- Chair electrical Cx coordination meetings; report progress, readiness, and risk to the Cx Manager and owner

- Supervise and QC the work of electrical Cx engineers/technicians assigned to the project

- Escalate schedule, safety, or design conflicts early with recommended paths forward

Skills Required:

- 8–10+ years of experience in electrical construction, testing, or commissioning , with mission-critical/data center experience

- Strong understanding of L1–L5 commissioning , including startup, functional performance testing, IST, and turnover

- Working knowledge of NETA ATS, NFPA 70/70B/70E/110, IEEE 1584 , and relevant utility standards

- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, control schematics, relay settings, and protection/coordination studies

- Experience with MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, and paralleling gear

- Experience with UPS, batteries, ATS/STS, PDUs/RPPs, busway, and electrical distribution systems

- Familiarity with EPMS/SCADA, BMS interfaces, metering, alarm mapping, and electrical testing

- ACG CxA, BCxA CCP, NETA Level III/IV, or AEE CxP certification preferred

Education / Licenses / Certifications

- Relevant experience in electrical construction, testing, or commissioning will be considered in lieu of a specific degree

- ACG CxA, BCxA CCP, NETA Level III/IV, or AEE CxP certification preferred

- OSHA 30 required
