The Women's Health Program Specialist role is a system women's health clinical program and quality expert who develops standards, analyzes performance, leads evidence-based improvement initiatives, supports education, and partners with clinical and operational leaders to improve obstetric and gynecologic outcomes across the continuum of care. Women's Health nursing ambulatory experience is required. Primarily remote work however on-site visits may be required.

Pay Range:
$51.05 - $76.60

Major Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the development and implementation of multidisciplinary perinatal standards of care and best practice initiatives for all ambulatory and acute care settings across the Midwest Region including all birthing centers.
- Develops the framework, assessment and outcome metrics for the perinatal safety program which includes but is not limited to the development of obstetric emergency simulations.
- Leads the system assessment for overall perinatal multidisciplinary quality care by formalizing recommendations and developing improvement plans. Partners with Women’s Health leadership in the analysis of system quality data to identify trends and gaps and in the development of multidisciplinary initiatives for providers and teammates .
- Provides expert knowledge, including national benchmarks, standards, and current trends in perinatal care. Partners with service line physician leadership toward the development of an interdisciplinary approach to care for obstetric patients. Partners with system, market and site leadership to assist in the identification of perinatal care needs.
- Serves as perinatal nursing quality specialist for the Advocate Health Midwest Region to design, implement, and evaluate innovative individual and/or population-based programs of care to achieve desired quality, cost-effective, nurse-sensitive outcomes.
- Provides leadership and consultation to site and market leadership and external agencies and organizations related to areas of perinatal care as well as the value of nursing care within the organization. As indicated, participates in state initiatives towards the improvement of perinatal care.
- Advances nursing practice through innovative evidence-based interventions, best practice guidelines, research, and modifications of professional standards and organizational policies that direct the care of nursing staff and other providers to improve outcomes.
- Facilitates the development, operation and evaluation of the perinatal orientation and continuing education programs across the system. Provides mentorship to local, unit based obstetric clinical nurse specialists and unit educators.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, or
- Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certification issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) needs to be obtained within 2 years, or
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification issued by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), or
- Nurse Midwife license issued by the state of Wisconsin, or
- Nursing certification in one or more specialty-specific areas issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or other approved national governing body.

Education Required:

- Master's Degree in Nursing.

Experience Required:

- Typically requires 5 years of experience in labor and delivery inpatient nursing with an ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skill in perinatal care.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

- Demonstrated expertise in a clinical specialty area including clinical competence and an in-depth knowledge of clinical practice.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including ability to teach, project management, decision making, delegation, team building, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and listening skills. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective communications among and with nursing and other healthcare staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

- Generally exposed to a normal office environment.
- Position requires travel throughout the Aurora system. May be exposed to road and weather hazards.
- Operates all equipment essential in performing the job.
