Job Summary
- Owns timely, job-specific training for AmeriGas employees company-wide.
- Manages the full learning life cycle: needs analysis, design, delivery, measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Leads the safety, technical, business acumen, and regulatory training teams.
- Develops curriculum for instructor-led, e-learning, and blended formats.
- Supervises, trains, and develops training staff so training stays consistent, professional, and effective.
- Makes sure programs meet or exceed regulatory and business requirements.
- Partners with Operations on compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and state propane training requirements.
- Supports workforce capability, fewer safety incidents, and profitable growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Leads the training team in building technical and job-specific training, onboarding programs, and KPIs for safety, technical, and regulatory requirements.
- Works with organizational leadership to understand business needs and sets a multi-year learning strategy that delivers the desired performance outcomes.
- Coaches the training team with clear goals and metrics and holds them accountable for results.
- Keeps the business leadership team (BLT) informed of changes, trends, and strategies.
Needs Analysis and Design
- Identifies the critical skills and capabilities needed to meet business goals and grow the training pipeline.
- Designs engaging training materials that meet technical and required standards.
- Applies effective coaching methods to support employee growth.
- Keeps curriculum current with changes in learning design, regulations, and the industry.
Compliance and Records
- Maintains training records so all certification, refresher, and recertification cycles are met.
- Adapts curriculum to stay compliant and close knowledge gaps.
Measurement and Improvement
- Measures training and onboarding effectiveness through assessments, behavior change, and business impact.
- Makes improvements to the employee experience and to knowledge transfer.
- Works with field leaders to understand how work gets done and find more efficient ways to do common tasks.
Budget and Vendor Management
- Manages the annual training budget.
- Runs cost-benefit analyses on technology, travel, and vendor spend.
- Keeps training schedules and programs practical, economical, and within budget.
- Reviews training contracts for programs, platforms, and support with Procurement.
Cross-Functional Support
- Provides technical expertise to departments that build training for AmeriGas field locations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven team leadership.
- Ability to design, write, and produce training in e-learning, instructor-led, and blended formats.
- Strong interpersonal skills with employees at all levels, including enforcing training policy in field operations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a record of influencing change across functions.
- Strong project organization skills to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Proficient with authoring tools, LMS platforms, and multimedia software for content, reports, and analysis.
- Advanced problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Process improvement mindset and root cause analysis ability.
Education and Experience
- BS in Business, Learning and Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience leading training functions and teams.
- Expertise in the ADDIE instructional design method.
