Job Description
The Analyst, Space Planning role applies expanded conceptual knowledge of space planning, assortment analytics, retail merchandising, and JDA/Blue Yonder tools to support data-driven space and assortment decisions.
The analyst applies understanding of key business drivers including sales, profitability, space to sales, SKU efficiency, inventory productivity, labor efficiency, field execution, and customer experience while working within established guidelines, policies, and merchandising standards.
As a key member of project teams, this role supports assigned analytical workstreams, test-and-learn activities, planogram quality checks, recurring reporting, and pre- and post-space analysis with impact on the quality of own work and the work of others in the group.
The Analyst, Space Planning role works closely with floor planning, category, inventory, RGM, pricebook and others to explain moderately complex information in clear, straightforward terms. In addition, this role provides informal guidance to new team members, meets near-term targets, and plans weekly and monthly work under a moderate degree of direction.
Essential job functions:
- Apply expanded conceptual knowledge of space planning, assortment analytics, retail merchandising, and JDA/Blue Yonder tools to support dashboards, scorecards, planograms, and recurring reporting that improve visibility to performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Analyze category, cluster, SKU productivity, inventory, space-to-sales, and planogram performance using technical experience, established precedents, and sound judgment to solve business problems and recommend practical actions.
- Apply understanding of key business drivers including sales, profitability, inventory productivity, labor efficiency, field execution, and customer experience to evaluate space and assortment opportunities within established guidelines, policies, and merchandising standards.
- Serve as a key member of project teams by owning assigned analytical workstreams, supporting test-and-learn activities, documenting findings, meeting near-term targets, and planning weekly and monthly work to support broader team goals and objectives.
- Execute pre- and post-space analysis, planogram quality checks, and performance readouts with impact on the quality of own work and the work of others in the group; identify straightforward issues and partner with appropriate teams to resolve them.
- Explain moderately complex space, assortment, and performance information in clear, straightforward terms to Merchandising, Inventory Planning, Operations, and Space Planning partners, while providing informal guidance to new team members on processes, standards, tools, and best practices under a moderate degree of direction.
Experience building and maintaining business intelligence reporting (dashboards, scorecards) and communicating performance narratives.
Advanced knowledge of microsoft office suite, Tableau, PowerBi and/or other analytical tools, SQL is a plus
Knowledgeable in convenience retail, adjacent retail industry or consumer packaged goods
Qualifications
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
Education Preferred: Master's Degree or Equivalent
Experience Required: At least 3 Years' Experience
