About this role

Looking for some casual work where you can get outdoors, get stuck in and earn some extra money?

We’re looking for a fit, practical person to help our veterinary technicians on lifestyle property visits, working with sheep, goats and alpacas, during our busier periods.

You don’t need veterinary or farming qualifications. What matters is that you’re comfortable around farm animals, capable of doing physical work and willing to lend a hand wherever needed.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll head out with one of our experienced technicians to lifestyle properties and help with the practical side of the job. This could include:

- Handling and restraining animals

- Lifting feet

- Oral drenching

- Vaccinating and giving mineral injections to sheep, goats and alpacas

- Setting up and packing away gear

- Record keeping/admin

- Other physical tasks to help the job run safely and smoothly

This is hands-on, physically demanding work, mainly outdoors and in typical farm conditions, so you’ll need to be comfortable getting dirty and putting in some effort.

Who would suit this?

You don’t need any special qualifications or previous veterinary experience. We’re more interested in someone who:

- Shows initiative

- Is friendly and positive when interacting with clients

- Is physically fit and capable of manual work

- Is confident and sensible around lifestyle farm animals

- Is reliable and turns up when they say they will

- Has a practical, can-do attitude

- Works well as part of a small team

- Is happy working outdoors in changing conditions

- Previous farm or livestock experience would be useful

How the casual work works

The work is seasonal and casual, so hours will vary depending on demand. Wherever possible, our lifestyle runs are planned ahead, which means you’ll generally have some notice of the days we need an extra pair of hands.

This could be a great fit if you’re studying, have other flexible work, or simply want some additional casual work without committing to regular weekly hours.

No qualifications required – just reliability, a bit of muscle and a willingness to get stuck in.
