About this role

About Jetson

Jetson is on a mission to accelerate the transition of 100 million homes across North America away from fossil fuels toward sustainable energy use. We believe in a future that is 100% electric and 100% better.

Homes are one of the largest sources of carbon emissions, yet adoption of solutions like heat pumps remains slow due to cost and complexity. Jetson is solving this by building the first fully vertically integrated home electrification company — making clean energy simple, transparent, and affordable.

We rely heavily on technology, automation, and data to scale this impact. At Jetson, we value people who are excellent at their craft, curious about new tools (including AI), and motivated to continuously improve how work gets done.

The Opportunity:

We're looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to own payroll operations across Canada and the United States as part of our Accounting & Finance team. As Jetson's payroll expert, you'll manage pay for a fast-growing workforce, including hourly, salaried, piece-rate and commissioned employees. This is a highly visible role where accuracy, compliance and sound judgment matter. This is a chance to build the payroll function as it grows: shape the processes, set up ADP to scale, and support our expansion into new markets while helping Jetson electrify homes across North America.

What You'll Do:

- Run end-to-end payroll in ADP for Canada and the US, covering hourly, salaried, piece-rate and commission-earning employees

- Calculate and check piece-rate pay for field technicians, including minimum wage floors, overtime and vacation/PTO rules in each province and state

- Calculate sales commissions with Sales and Finance, check them against CRM and sales data, and pay them accurately and on time

- Report to the Accounting & Finance team: reconcile payroll to the general ledger, prepare journal entries and support month-end close and audits

- Ensure compliance with Canadian and US payroll requirements, including provincial/state employment standards, CRA and IRS withholding and remittances, workers' compensation, and year-end T4 and W-2 filings

- Maintain employee pay data and ADP setup (earnings codes, deductions, benefits), and answer employee payroll questions

- Set up payroll for new provinces and states as Jetson enters new markets, and find ways to automate and improve payroll processes as we grow

What You Bring:

- 5+ years of payroll experience, ideally across both Canada and the US

- A PCP/CPM (Canada) or CPP (US) designation is an asset

- Strong hands-on expertise with ADP (Workforce Now or similar)

- Experience paying mixed workforces: hourly, salaried, piece rate and variable or commission pay

- Solid knowledge of multi-jurisdiction payroll compliance (CRA, IRS, provincial and state rules)

- High accuracy, strong Excel/Sheets skills, and sound judgment with confidential information

- Experience with modern tools, including AI, to automate and make your day more efficient

- Familiarity with modern tools including AI for efficiency

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $82,000 - $102,000 per annum

Benefits/Perks:

- Dental, Vision & Life Insurance: 100% company-paid premiums

- Extended Health Care

- Disability Insurance

- Parental Leave Top-Up

- Education Support

- Equity

Work Location: In person - North Vancouver, BC
