Job Title: Project Manager Job Description
The Project Manager leads complex engineering projects from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved specifications. This role provides professional project management services that reduce project execution costs, enhance efficiency, and deliver measurable value to clients. The Project Manager establishes and oversees the overall project execution plan, serves as the primary liaison between clients and the design team, and ensures all project deliverables meet defined requirements and scope.
Responsibilities
- Deliver assigned projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with approved specifications and scope.
- Establish the overall project execution plan, including objectives, timelines, resource needs, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide professional project management leadership to reduce project execution costs and maximize value for clients.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the client and the design team, ensuring clear, consistent communication and alignment of expectations.
- Establish, monitor, and report metrics for key performance indicators throughout project execution.
- Review and approve all engineering deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to project requirements.
- Create and manage communication plans and schedules to ensure timely information exchange among key stakeholders.
- Conduct regular status review meetings to track progress, address issues, and maintain alignment with project goals.
- Determine, monitor, and review project costs, budgets, schedules, and staffing requirements for project teams.
- Provide team leadership, direction, and coordination to project team members and stakeholders.
- Mentor and train clients, vendors, and team members in project management fundamentals, procedures, and best practices.
- Support business development by obtaining new work through client interaction, relationship building, and proposal development.
- Ensure project deliverables satisfy all project requirements within the agreed-upon scope of work.
- Promote a collaborative, high-performance project environment that emphasizes meeting customer deadlines and quality standards.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- Approximately 7 years of experience in project management.
- Strong background in project management and project coordination within engineering environments.
- Experience with construction, pre-design, pre-construction, contract management, and project delivery methods.
- Demonstrated success in team building and building strong client relationships.
- Mechanical engineering or related engineering experience.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong emphasis on meeting customer deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and thrive in a fast-paced, diverse setting.
- Ability to establish, monitor, and report on project key performance indicators.
- Capability to review and approve engineering deliverables for quality and compliance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in the pulp and paper industry is highly desired.
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration is desired.
- Knowledge of paper machine equipment, processes, and operations is a plus.
- Experience working in industrial, power and utility, and chemical markets is beneficial.
- Ability to mentor and train others in project management fundamentals, procedures, and activities.
- Strong client-facing skills and comfort with proposal development and business development activities.

The role is based within a full-service engineering design and consulting environment that serves pulp and paper, industrial, power and utility, and chemical markets. The work setting emphasizes a Collaboration of Excellence, encouraging close cooperation within project teams and with clients. The environment is fast-paced and diverse, requiring adaptability and strong teamwork. Daily work involves extensive use of Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project to manage schedules, budgets, deliverables, and communications. The Project Manager collaborates with engineering professionals and stakeholders across multiple disciplines to deliver high-quality, technically sound solutions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Oswego, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $160000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
