Purpose:

We are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Intern to join our team in the Reading/Wyomissing office. This internship offers an opportunity to gain practical engineering experience while supporting projects for the Power Generation and Power Networks sectors. Working alongside experienced engineers and designers, the intern will assist with the development, review, and documentation of instrumentation and control systems used in safe, reliable, and efficient energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

- Support the preparation and revision of instrumentation and controls engineering deliverables for Power Generation and Power Networks projects.
- Assist with instrument data sheets, control narratives, input/output lists, instrument indexes, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and related technical documentation.
- Help review drawings, specifications, vendor information, and project documentation for accuracy and consistency.
- Perform basic engineering calculations, data collection, and technical research under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination with electrical, mechanical, process, and project teams.
- Support the organization and maintenance of engineering files, calculations, drawings, and project records.
- Learn and apply applicable industry codes, standards, client requirements, and company procedures.
- Communicate progress, questions, and technical observations clearly and professionally.
- Follow health, safety, environmental, and quality expectations in all assigned work.

What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

- Completed foundational coursework in electrical circuits, digital systems, control systems, instrumentation, programming, or a related technical area.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must be able to work in office at the Reading/Wyomissing, Pennsylvania office.
- Interest in instrumentation, industrial automation, process control, power generation, substations, transmission, distribution, or other power infrastructure.
- Exposure through coursework or projects to programmable logic controllers, distributed control systems, human-machine interfaces, sensors, transmitters, or control system design.
- Previous internship, laboratory, design project, or team-based engineering experience.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:

- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.

Preferred:

- Familiarity with engineering drawing or design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools.
