JOB LOCATION:

Duke Neurology of Raleigh - 3480 Wake Forest Rd

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Medical Assistant in our Duke Neurology of Raleigh clinic located in Raleigh, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist Medical and Nursing Staff in a variety of tasks including: Taking medical histories and recording vital signs.
- Tee-up drug refills as directed.
- Assist with prior authorization needs for prescriptions.
- Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.
- Assist with collection of laboratory specimens. Coordinate send-off to third party labs.
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients.
- Preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and scan medical records.
- Reschedule appointments when clinics are cancelled in less than 45 days.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
- High School diploma or GED graduation required
- Work generally requires six months of experience in the healthcare setting. Education in a health related field can be used as a substitute for the experience.
- Must be fully certified as a Medical Assistant (AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA) within 18 months of hire.
- Level I -- No experience required.
- Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting.

JOB HOURS:

The schedule for this position is day shifts.
