Job Description

North Star Windows & Doors is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to join our team. This role will play an important part in the month-end close process, financial reporting, reconciliations, inventory analysis, budgeting, and other accounting activities.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with various teams across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to continue developing their skills and grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing required accounting entries and reconciliations.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries and complete account reconciliations to ensure financial information is accurate and complete.
- Reconcile daily bank transactions and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Track capital expenditures and maintain fixed asset records and administration.
- Prepare and analyze inventory reports, identifying trends, variances, and potential issues.
- Import and reconcile daily sales and accounts receivable (AR) information.
- Perform cost centre analysis and prepare ad-hoc financial reports as required.
- Support the annual budgeting process, including data preparation and analysis.
- Complete intercompany reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Support the Accounts Payable team with general ledger account coding and purchase order review.
- Assist with other accounting, reporting, and financial analysis activities as required.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- CPA designation or actively pursuing a CPA designation.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional accounting experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees and management at various levels.
- Strong English reading and writing skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Sage 300 is considered an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, particularly during month-end close.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, dependable, and willing to learn.
- Strong sense of ownership and commitment to accuracy and quality.

Additional Information

Compensation: $75,000–$85,000 annually. Placement within the range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications relative to the requirements of the role. Candidates who meet the core requirements can generally expect to be placed closer to the midpoint of the range, while those with significant relevant experience may be considered toward the higher end of the range.
