Our goal is for the Mojang Studios team to be as diverse as our community. </p><p>The Mojang web team is looking for a <strong>Senior Software Engineer </strong>who is passionate about modern, delightful web experiences in service of the most popular game in the world: Minecraft! As a software engineer on Minecraft Web Team, you will work closely with studio teams to bring Minecraft's whimsy to hundreds of millions of players on the web. You will practice mature engineering and prioritize responsiveness, accessibility, and maintainability while partnering across disciplines and other teams to bring delightful, Minecrafty product experiences to life. </p></div><br><br><b>Responsibilities</b><br><div><ul><li>Deliver high-quality, business-critical web experiences that delight players while meeting high standards for accessibility, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability</li><li>Design, build, and maintain modern web applications and shared UI capabilities using technologies such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern front-end architectures</li><li>Contribute to and evolve our shared web platform, component libraries, and engineering practices to improve consistency, quality, and developer productivity across Minecraft web experiences</li><li>Partner closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and studio stakeholders to understand customer and business needs, shape technical solutions, and deliver impactful outcomes</li><li>Build solid cross-discipline relationships and collaborate effectively across teams to create cohesive, player-focused experiences that reflect the Minecraft brand and values</li><li>Builds an understanding of customer needs to inform design and implementation decisions </li></ul></div><br><br><b>Qualifications</b><br><div><p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><ul style="list-style-type: disc;"><li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python<ul><li>OR equivalent experience</li></ul></li><li>4+ years of experience designing and building modern web applications using HTML, JavaScript, React, TypeScript and CSS AND solving complex technical challenges in web application development, including debugging, performance optimization, scalability, maintainability, and cross-browser compatibility</li><li>3+ years of experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating web applications with distributed or service-oriented architectures</li><li>3+ years of experience using source control systems such as Git and collaborating in modern development workflows</li></ul></div><div><p> <br><strong>Preferred Qualifications: </strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, OR equivalent practical experience</li><li>Proven experience delivering production-quality customer-facing web applications with a solid understanding of modern browser technologies, web standards, and responsive design </li><li>Experience participating in architecture and technical design discussions and driving projects from concept through production release</li><li>Solid understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles, with experience building accessible user experiences</li><li>Experience working closely with designers, product managers, and engineers in a cross-functional environment</li><li>Passion for crafting delightful user experiences and attention to details </li></ul></div><div><div><p> In the end, it’s the people of Mojang Studios that make this place truly special. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year. </p><p></p> <p>Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
