Overview
Diversified Treatment Alternative Centers (DTAC) is seeking a compassionate and motivated Mental Health Counselor (MHC) to join our Abuse Recovery Resolution Treatment Services (ARRTS) Program in Williamsport, PA.
The ARRTS Program provides specialized behavioral health services to children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and require support in developing healthy coping skills, emotional regulation, and positive behavioral functioning. Services are delivered primarily within school settings while collaborating closely with families, treatment teams, and community partners.

Position Summary
The Mental Health Counselor (MHC) provides direct behavioral health services to children and adolescents participating in the ARRTS Program. Services are primarily delivered within school settings and focus on emotional regulation, coping skill development, behavioral improvement, trauma recovery, and successful functioning within home, school, and community environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual counseling and therapeutic support services to youth
- Facilitate skills development, coping strategies, and behavioral interventions
- Support implementation of treatment plans and clinical recommendations
- Collaborate with school personnel, families, and treatment team members
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes and treatment updates
- Monitor client progress and communicate treatment-related concerns to supervisors
- Assist youth in developing emotional regulation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment
- Participate in supervision, training, and professional development activities
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working with children or adolescents in a behavioral health setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience documenting services and maintaining professional records
Preferred
- Experience working with trauma-impacted youth
- Experience in school-based, community-based, family-based, or outpatient behavioral health programs
- Experience collaborating with families, schools, probation, child welfare, or community providers
- Group facilitation experience
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Experience working with youth exhibiting problematic sexual behaviors (PSB) or other high-risk behavioral concerns
Additional Requirement
- Must obtain certification in the treatment of sexually aggressive youth within one year of hire (training begins following the probationary period)
