General Function
The Logistics Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and continuous improvement of automated logistics systems within the Distribution Center. This position leads preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for automated equipment including conveyors, sortation systems, robotics, ASRS systems, automated packaging equipment, vision systems, PLC-controlled machinery, and associated infrastructure. The role ensures safe operation, maximizes equipment uptime, drives maintenance excellence, and supports operational productivity through data-driven maintenance strategies.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for automated logistics systems based on operational needs, available resources, and equipment criticality.
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Monitor equipment performance utilizing CMMS, automation dashboards, and maintenance KPIs.
- Troubleshoot and support electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system failures.
- Ensure all automated equipment meets safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform and facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Support PLC, HMI, VFD, sensor, scanner, and industrial network troubleshooting activities.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, IT, and Continuous Improvement teams to optimize automation system performance.
- Develop and implement reliability improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
- Support commissioning, installation, and startup activities for new automation projects and equipment upgrades.
- Manage contractors, system integrators, and OEM service providers while ensuring compliance with company safety standards
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in automated distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or material handling environments.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of:
- PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent)
- HMI systems
- Industrial automation controls
- VFDs and motor controls
- Pneumatic and electrical systems
- Conveyors and sortation systems
