Stock Room Clerk

JOB SUMMARY:

Bon Secours is seeking a dedicated and reliable Food Pantry Assistant to participate in all aspects of our food pantry operation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to our ministry’s mission, provide exceptional service to clients, and maintain the pantry's organization and efficiency.

This is a PRN position that will be required to be onsite at more than one location.

LOCATIONS

- Food Pantry : 3600 High St. Portsmouth, Virginia 23707 (Next to our Maryview Medical Center location)
- Operation Blessing Warehouse: 907 Live Oak Drive, Suite A, Chesapeake, VA 23320

SCHEDULE & SHIFT EXPECTATIONS

- Needed for three key days: Food Pantry - Distribution: on Mondays from ~7:45 AM – 11:30 AM/12:00 PM
- Operation Blessing - Pallet Builds: on Thursdays from ~9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Food Pantry - Restocking: on Fridays from ~12:30 PM – 4:00 PM

- These days and times are subject to change- week will never be more than 12 hours.
- There will be weeks when no hours are available if the Food Pantry is closed due to a holiday.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum of 2 years of customer service or related work experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure the food pantry is properly stocked and organized before each service day.
- Clean and restock pantry items on non-service days.
- Build the pallets at Operation Blessing, along with volunteers, to ensure proper selections of food items.
- Conduct checks on food donations for expiration dates.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of freezers and coolers.

LANGUAGE

- Spanish a plus, but not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
- Requires good manual dexterity and stamina.

Range:

- Minimum: $16.76

- Maximum: $24.65
