Commissioning / Completions Scheduler

Play an integral role in ensuring the successful transition of major capital projects from construction through commissioning, startup, operational readiness, and handover. As a Commissioning / Completions Scheduler , you will provide planning and scheduling expertise that supports the safe, efficient, and timely execution of system completions, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities.

This is a project-focused role that works closely with Construction, Commissioning, Completions, Operations, Project Controls, Engineering, Quality, and Client stakeholders. Your ability to develop, maintain, and analyze integrated schedules will directly impact project readiness, milestone achievement, workforce coordination, and successful project delivery.

You will serve as a key member of the project controls and commissioning teams, ensuring that construction completion activities, turnover milestones, testing programs, commissioning execution, and startup readiness activities are properly planned, sequenced, and monitored throughout the project lifecycle.

Purpose of the role

The Commissioning / Completions Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing schedules that support completions, turnover, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities. You will work closely with project teams to ensure construction completion, mechanical completion, system turnover, testing, commissioning, and startup activities are logically integrated and aligned with overall project execution objectives.

Working across multiple disciplines, you will support schedule development, progress measurement, forecasting, risk analysis, readiness planning, and execution reporting to provide visibility into project performance and help drive successful project outcomes.

Your expertise will help ensure systems are completed, tested, commissioned, and handed over safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements and contractual commitments.

You will be responsible for

- Developing, maintaining, and updating commissioning, completions, turnover, startup, and operational readiness schedules.
- Integrating engineering, procurement, construction, completions, commissioning, and startup activities into a comprehensive project execution schedule.
- Supporting development of system turnover schedules, mechanical completion milestones, and commissioning execution plans.
- Coordinating with Construction, Commissioning, Project Controls, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Client teams to ensure schedule alignment.
- Developing logic-driven schedules that support efficient system handover and startup sequencing.
- Monitoring schedule progress and identifying risks, delays, conflicts, and constraints affecting project execution.
- Supporting forecasting, schedule analysis, critical path evaluation, and recovery planning activities.
- Tracking completions progress, turnover status, commissioning milestones, and startup readiness metrics.
- Developing look-ahead schedules and execution plans to support field activities.
- Supporting readiness reviews, turnover planning meetings, commissioning reviews, and project status meetings.
- Producing schedule reports, dashboards, milestone analyses, and performance updates for project leadership.
- Coordinating schedule interfaces between construction, commissioning, operations, and client organizations.
- Supporting development and maintenance of project controls procedures, scheduling standards, and reporting processes.
- Performing schedule risk assessments and identifying opportunities to improve execution efficiency.
- Supporting project closeout and final handover planning activities.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives related to project controls, scheduling, commissioning, and project delivery.

What you’ll bring to the role

You bring a strong combination of project controls expertise, commissioning knowledge, scheduling capability, and industrial project experience gained through complex EPC and construction environments.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, Business, Technical Studies, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Typically 7+ years of experience in project controls, scheduling, commissioning, completions, startup, construction planning, or project execution.
- Experience supporting EPC, EPCM, energy, chemicals, LNG, petrochemical, power generation, manufacturing, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of commissioning, startup, system completions, turnover, and operational readiness processes.
- Experience developing and managing integrated project schedules within complex industrial environments.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 and other project scheduling tools.
- Experience supporting mechanical completion, turnover management, commissioning execution, and startup activities.
- Strong understanding of project controls principles, schedule development, progress measurement, forecasting, and schedule analysis.
- Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams and managing schedule interfaces across project functions.
- Knowledge of commissioning management systems, turnover databases, and completions tracking tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify schedule risks and develop practical mitigation plans.
- Experience preparing schedule reports, dashboards, executive summaries, and project performance updates.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence project teams and support informed decision-making.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
