About this role

The Branch Manager III leads Trench Shoring Company's largest and most operationally complex branch. This role is accountable for integrated branch execution across branch services which includes; transportation logistics, yard operations and customer service. The Branch Manager III oversees operations and drives success through multi-level management structure. Success in this role requires the ability to establish priorities, develop leadership capabilities in team members, maintain branch readiness, and ensure that customer orders are executed accurately.

Essential Responsibilities

- Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable assigned managers, supervisors, leads, and direct-report employees. Establish clear decision rights, operating expectations, communication routines, and follow-through appropriate to the approved reporting structure.

- Coordinate branch priorities across office, dispatch, drivers, helpers, yard, and shore-pit operations so customer commitments, staffing, inventory, equipment readiness, and transportation capacity remain aligned.

- Maintain ultimate branch accountability for safety leadership, Stop Work Authority, required meetings, incident response, corrective actions, audit follow-through, and coordination with EHS and other subject-matter experts.

- Ensure the branch executes orders accurately and on time from contract entry through staging, dispatch, delivery, collection, return, damage review, transaction posting, and inventory reconciliation.

- Lead or sponsor significant branch projects and operational-improvement initiatives, establishing clear ownership, milestones, cross-functional coordination, and accountability for implementation.

- Establish staffing plans and management coverage appropriate to branch demand. Partner with HR on recruiting, selection, onboarding, employee relations, documentation, development, corrective action, and succession planning.

- Establish a consistent culture of employee recognition, performance feedback, and development throughout the branch. Ensure assigned leaders complete required performance reviews, coaching, recognition, and employee-development activities in a timely and meaningful manner and directly complete these responsibilities for any employees reporting to the Branch Manager III.

- Model and reinforce TSC values throughout the branch, holding branch leaders and employees accountable for treating employees, customers, and business partners with professionalism, respect, and consistency.

- Review operating information and reports from assigned leaders and functional areas to identify service risks, capacity constraints, overtime concerns, process failures, inventory issues, and recurring customer problems. Assign ownership and verify closure.

- Establish performance expectations with assigned leaders and teams and manage branch operations toward company-defined key performance indicators and operating objectives. Regularly review results and trends, identify material variances, assign corrective actions, and verify follow-through. Ensure each accountable leader or employee understands the measures applicable to the assigned area, uses those measures to manage performance, and is accountable for results and improvement within the individuals control.

- Partner with Sales on large, complex, or long-range customer requirements while preserving clear Operations accountability for feasibility, sequencing, resource commitments, and execution.

- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable requirements involving employment practices, DOT/transportation, driver qualification, ELD and camera systems, permits, facilities, environmental obligations, and construction/jobsite activity.

- Lead significant customer-service recovery and operational escalation. Ensure disputes are researched promptly,

- Maintain branch readiness for emergency and after-hours needs through effective leadership coverage, employee assignment, and escalation protocols rather than routine personal involvement in every operating detail.

- Represent Compton in district and company initiatives, contribute lessons from the flagship branch, and support practical standardization that can scale to other locations.

- Sets branch operating priorities and allocates people and resources within approved policies, staffing plans, and authority.

- Directs assigned managers, supervisors, leads, and employees and determines when an issue remains within an operating area, requires branch-level coordination, or must be escalated.

- Approves or recommends staffing, scheduling, corrective action, process, resource, and customer-recovery decisions consistent with company authority levels.

- Does not independently change company policy, compensation programs, legal requirements, safety standards, or commitments reserved to another function or executive leader.

Success Measures

- Assigned leaders and employees demonstrate clear ownership, stronger capability, and consistent follow-through.

- Customer orders move through the branch with fewer handoff failures, avoidable delays, and unresolved exceptions.

- Safety, staffing, overtime, inventory, fleet, and service risks are identified early and acted upon.

- The branch can sustain performance through clear ownership, appropriate delegation, and effective coverage without concentrating routine decisions in the Branch Manager III role.

Qualifications

Qualifications

- Progressive leadership experience in equipment rental, construction operations, logistics, distribution, warehousing, industrial service, or a comparable operating environment.

- Demonstrated ability to lead employees, establish accountability, manage competing priorities, and sustain safe and consistent execution.

- Strong communication, coaching, documentation, conflict-resolution, and practical problem-solving skills.

- Working proficiency with email, spreadsheets, HRIS/timekeeping, rental or ERP systems, and operational reporting tools.

- Must possess a valid Class C Driver's license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles and must be eligible to be added to the Trench Shoring Company insurance policy.

- Bachelor's degree preferred, but an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

- Work is performed across office, dispatch, yard, and construction jobsite environments.

- Role requires regular movement through active operating areas, exposure to weather and moving equipment, use of required PPE.

- Routinely able to lift 20lbs and adhere to not lifting anything 50lbs or more without assistance.

- Continually talk, and hear in a variety of environments including outdoors, and near mechanical equipment.
