About this role
SUMMARY
The Project Manager I is responsible for supporting and managing assigned aerospace projects from initiation through completion. This position coordinates project activities across engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, finance, contracts, and other functional organizations to ensure customer commitments are achieved within established scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
The Project Manager I develops and maintains project plans, monitors project performance, communicates status and issues to internal and external stakeholders, and supports the resolution of project risks and variances. The position works with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to deliver project results that meet customer requirements and support Company objectives.
Projects assigned to this position generally involve limited to moderate commitment of Company resources and are performed under the direction of the Program Management leadership team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are representative of those required for this position:
- Manage assigned project activities and maintain project plans to ensure commitments are achieved within established scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, action-item lists, and critical paths using project planning tools such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
- Monitor project performance and identify schedule, cost, quality, resource, and technical variances; escalate significant issues to Program Management leadership and appropriate functional organizations.
- Coordinate cross-functional project activities with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, Contracts, Sales, and other departments as required.
- Communicate project status, accomplishments, risks, issues, and required actions to internal and external customers and stakeholders in a clear, timely, and professional manner.
- Support customer meetings, project reviews, program reviews, and other project-related communications.
- Track project risks, opportunities, issues, action items, and dependencies and coordinate appropriate follow-up and resolution.
- Support the development and maintenance of project budgets, cost estimates, forecasts, and other financial information as required.
- Assist with proposal development, pricing activities, contract execution, contract modifications, and other business-development activities as assigned.
- Apply working knowledge of contract terms and conditions, pricing models, and contractual requirements to assigned projects.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, records, schedules, and correspondence in accordance with Company procedures.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint to develop, maintain, communicate, and manage project information and documentation.
- Support the development and implementation of project processes, work instructions, flowcharts, and other process-management tools.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and support implementation of improvements that increase project efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders by communicating clearly, collaborating effectively, and maintaining a professional customer-focused approach.
- Analyze project information, identify interdependencies, evaluate alternatives, and support development of effective solutions to project issues.
- Make informed decisions within established authority and escalate issues when appropriate based on project impact, risk, contractual requirements, and Company policies.
- Adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, schedules, and customer needs while maintaining appropriate project controls.
- Support compliance with applicable Company policies, contractual requirements, export-control requirements, quality procedures, and aerospace industry standards.
- Perform other project-management duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- None. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility but is expected to coordinate the activities of cross-functional project team members as required.
