Floor Technician / Environmental Services Technician
Full Time - Nights
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment through routine cleaning, floor care, waste management, and project-based cleaning activities. This role supports patient care areas and common spaces by performing regular, terminal, and isolation cleaning in accordance with Wellstar policies and infection prevention standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform floor care duties including stripping, refinishing, buffing, and carpet maintenance.
- Clean patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, common areas, walls, windows, and other assigned spaces.
- Follow established protocols for regular, terminal, and isolation room cleaning.
- Properly collect, transport, and dispose of waste, including biohazard, chemotherapy, pharmaceutical, and other regulated waste streams.
- Operate and maintain floor care equipment and Ultra Violet (UV) disinfection devices.
- Stock supplies and report equipment issues or shortages.
- Follow infection prevention guidelines and use appropriate cleaning chemicals and PPE.
- Assist with emergency spill cleanup and special cleaning projects as assigned.
- Provide excellent customer service while interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
Preferred Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Experience
- Previous environmental services, housekeeping, floor care, janitorial, or custodial experience.
Required Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to safely lift, transport materials, and operate cleaning equipment.
- Must successfully complete departmental training within the first 30 days of employment.
