Rakuten is the EC company. The business model of Rakuten Ichiba is B2B2C and we worked close to merchants. Also, we are focusing of the B2C model. And ECFD is a home of B2C model business in Rakuten. B2C model business can control the variation of the items at the store and increase the quality of the delivery the item to the customer.

Rakuten Group's EC First Party Development Department (ECFD) has several B-to-C businesses that will drive Rakuten business.

The following services are currently operated by ECFD.

・ Rakuten Fashion

・ Rakuten 24, Rakuten 24 Express

・ Rakuten Mart, Rakuten Zenkoku Super

・ Rakuten Bic

In the development of ECFD, we keep our eyes on the services along with the business, and we can propose, develop, and verify the effectiveness of the services by ourselves.

You can acquire specialized and professional engineering skills related to e-commerce.

Position Details

You will be involved in the development and operation of systems that support the First-Party business operated by Rakuten.

Depending on your background and experience, you will take on various roles, such as Application Developer, Scrum Master, or Project Manager.

Since you will work in close collaboration with the business side throughout the system development and operation lifecycle, you will not only gain expertise in a wide range of technologies but also acquire experience in creating products that deliver tangible business impact.

The ECFD Osaka team develops and operates the following services, and you will be assigned to one of these upon joining:

・ POSA (Prepaid Card Sales)

・ Rakuten Bic (Electronics Retail)

・ Developing high-quality applications.

・ Ensuring stable service operations.

・ Identifying, proposing, and implementing improvements for both processes and systems.

Work Environment

Each team is comprised of a cross-functional group of 5–10 members, including engineers, PMs, and PdMs. You will also work closely with our Tokyo-based development teams on various projects.

Our office is fully equipped with Wi-Fi and designed to foster collaboration. Teams have the freedom to organize their workspace in ways that best suit their development style—whether it's brainstorming on whiteboard walls, engaging in mob programming on large monitors, or working in partitioned spaces for deep focus.

Mandatory Qualifications:

・ At least 5 years of experience in Java with a strong foundational knowledge.

・ At least 2 years of experience in Spring Boot with a strong foundational knowledge.

・ At least 2 years of experience with Linux/Unix environments and a solid understanding of its fundamentals.

・ Fundamental knowledge of RDBMS and experience in database schema design.

・ At least 3 years of experience in web application development.

Desired Qualifications:

・ At least 1 year of experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

・ At least 1 year of experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular.

・ At least 1 year of experience with Docker.

・ Fundamental knowledge of Web APIs.

・ Fundamental knowledge of web system security.

・ Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Redis).

・ Experience in Agile software development.

・ Experience with CI/CD pipelines.

・ Experience in developing large-scale systems.

・ Experience in automated testing using JUnit.

・ Experience in developing and testing highly reliable systems.

・ Knowledge of JSTQB/ISTQB and experience in test planning based on these standards.

・ Experience in system operation and maintenance (e.g., incident management, change management).

・ Experience in leading or managing system development projects.
