The Role
Embark on a transformative journey with our comprehensive 4-year, full-time fixed-term apprenticeship program based at our Maryborough Service Delivery Centre (MSDC). Tailored for both school leavers and mature-aged individuals, this program equips apprentices with the skills and knowledge to excel in finishing trades within a world-class rail manufacturing environment.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will undertake formal studies at TAFE while gaining valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced tradespeople. You'll learn specialist surface preparation, painting, coating application, finishing techniques and quality standards that contribute to the build and presentation of Australia's rail fleet.
Upon successful completion, you will have gained nationally recognised qualifications and practical experience that provide a strong foundation for a rewarding career within Downer.

Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated hands-on aptitude and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Commitment to workplace safety
- Completion of Year 12 School Certificate or equivalent (desirable)
- Previous completion of a relevant pre-apprenticeship program (desirable)
- Relevant work experience, hobbies or interests related to painting, automotive refinishing, fabrication or manufacturing
- Current Driver's Licence (desirable)
