Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting, the Manager oversees core financial accounting activities, including finance data governance, financial close, driver master maintenance, reconciliations and controls. The role ensures financial records are accurate, complete and timely, in accordance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal control frameworks, while driving continuous improvement across financial accounting processes and systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Accounting
- Oversee ETL accounting process to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor close timelines, change requests and related IT issues, escalating matters promptly to prevent delays.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to meet reporting deadlines and resolve issues affecting the financial close or reporting timetable.
- Oversee assessments and annual reviews of new and existing accounting and driver master configurations, including expense drivers, to ensure alignment with accounting standards and business requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors, Internal Audit and the SOX testing team, maintaining complete and audit-ready documentation, including user-developed application records and supporting evidence.
- Support the timely remediation of findings from external audits, Group Internal Audit and Regional SOX reviews relating to financial accounting processes.
- Oversee SUNGL, Oracle and IFRS solution administration, including user and access reviews.
- Lead and coach team members in investigating, resolving and preventing recurring accounting and reconciliation issues.
Finance Projects & Change Management
- Support new product launches and accounting treatment changes from a Finance perspective, including process reviews, accounting validation, driver allocation and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Contribute to Financial Accounting transformation initiatives that improve processes, controls and operational efficiency, while overseeing delivery timelines.
- Establish and maintain an effective governance framework for tracking changes to user-developed applications and Alteryx workflows.
- Undertake ad-hoc assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- A professional accounting qualification, such as ACCA, CPA, ACA or equivalent, is preferred.
Experience
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or people-management experience.
- Experience in financial services, particularly insurance or banking, is advantageous.
- Prior audit experience is preferred.

Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Sound knowledge of IFRS and IAS accounting principles; familiarity with IFRS 17 is advantageous.
- Familiarity with financial systems and data tools, including Oracle, Vision, SQL, Alteryx and macros, is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
