About this role
We are seeking a Data Scientist to extend Tesla’s Supply Chain Digital Twin platform to Europe. You will be part of the Supply Chain Optimization team that manages strategic projects and continuous improvement for Tesla’s Global Distribution Network. This role is based in Europe and reports on the North America team.
The primary responsibility is to develop a deep understanding of European supply chain operations and how they differ from North America to translate that knowledge into data, analytics, and platform capabilities. You will partner with European stakeholders across fulfillment, logistics, planning, and service operations, while working in close coordination with the North America team to integrate regional data into the existing global platform.
The role requires a sharp business focus, a collaborative working style, and a proactive, critical mindset. You will need to acquire subject matter knowledge of European systems, planning, and fulfillment processes to deliver analyses and data products that drive operational impact. The role is expected to handle multiple projects of department-level scale. Flexibility to overlap with North America working hours is required.
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines and recurring analytics to support fulfillment and operations decision-making.
- Map operational, process, and systems differences between Europe and North America, and translate those differences into the global data model.
- Integrate supply chain data into the Digital Twin platform across operations, logistics, planning, and service center operations, with initial focus on fulfillment systems and warehouse operations.
- Adapt platform knowledge bases and retrieval workflows so they accurately reflect local processes, terminology, and data.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses on regional supply chain performance, including benchmarking, bottleneck diagnosis, and scenario modeling.
- Partner with stakeholders in Material Planning, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, and Service Operations to gather requirements, validate data, and prioritize use cases.
- Collaborate with the North America Digital Twin team to keep regional delivery aligned with the global platform.
- Translate quantitative results into clear narratives and visualizations that enable leadership to make informed operational tradeoffs.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, AI, Supply Chain, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a comparable analytics role supporting supply chain, fulfillment, or operations.
- Working knowledge of fulfillment systems and warehouse or operations processes, with the ability to ramp into logistics, planning, and service operations.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and integrating data from multiple operational systems is a must.
- Strong programming proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using libraries such as NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Prior experience with cutting-edge techniques such as Large Language Models, Multimodal unsupervised learning, and Generative AI, contributing to innovative solutions for supply chain optimization.
- Strong ability to work independently and lead R&D initiatives, coupled with excellent communication and documentation skills to convey insights, findings, and project progress to stakeholders effectively.
- Basic experience or willingness in developing full-stack applications using Django (Python), Java-based services, and React, with a solid understanding of RESTful API design, integration, and service-oriented architectures.
- Comfortable with statistical analysis, performance benchmarking, and scenario modeling in an operational setting.
- Willingness to work with partial overlap to North America time zones.
- Experience with European supply chain operations or systems is a plus.
