The Challenge Ahead

Battlefield is a storied franchise renowned for uncompromising combat gameplay and all-out warfare, for over two decades. 100 million players and 5 billion hours played later, Battlefield Studios is defining the future of the first-person shooter with the biggest launch in franchise history with Battlefield 6, and a new era beginning with Battlefield REDSEC.

United under the banner of Battlefield Studios, 4 world-class teams across Criterion, DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect have come together to focus on the future of the franchise, a connected Battlefield universe filled with immersive experiences built on our unique DNA. DICE is a creative studio with offices in Stockholm and Gothenburg. We believe in the power of inclusion and welcome game creators from all backgrounds to collaborate with us as we unlock the potential for the future of Battlefield!

Responsibilities:

Battlefield’s dynamic worlds are a defining part of the player experience. Destruction is not only a technical system, it shapes combat, changes tactical choices, creates memorable cinematic moments, and connects many parts of the game.

As a Game Design Intern on the Battlefield Destruction Team, you will work with the Principal Game Designer and a multidisciplinary team to help shape connected, dynamic-world features for millions of Battlefield players. You will contribute to both gameplay systems and their application in levels, learning how ideas progress from an initial player-facing goal through documentation, prototyping, implementation, iteration, and production. You will receive daily guidance from the Principal Game Designer while working within the wider direction of the Combat Director and the Battlefield core design team.

- You will learn to use Frostbite Engine and EA's proprietary tools.
- You will help design, implement, and iterate on destruction and dynamic-world features emphasizing tactical value, clear player feedback, and immersive Battlefield moments.
- You will ideate and document feature intent and requirements, then guide collaboration between tech design, engineering, art, audio, production, and level teams to ensure features work cohesively within the broader game.
- You will participate in prototyping, playtesting, and reviews—using feedback and development constraints to refine features and content towards the Battlefield systemic gameplay vision.

Eligibility:

- You must be currently enrolled at university or education provider in Sweden with a planned internship period planned (e.g. LiA)
- You are eligible to work in Stockholm, Sweden, without visa/relocation support
- You are available to commence a full-time 6 month placement at the end of January 2027. Please check with your school before applying .

Skills:

We are looking for an emerging designer who is curious about the whole player experience, not only the configuration of an isolated system.

Player-focused design thinking

- You begin with the experience: What value does this create for the player?
- You think about gameplay loops, player motivation, fantasy, usability, feedback, and readability.
- You appreciate the immersive, systemic, and cinematic qualities of features.

Holistic and systemic thinking

- You recognise opportunities for one feature to strengthen another rather than treating each design as an isolated component.

Communication and collaboration

- You communicate clearly and are interested in the perspectives of different crafts.
- You structure ideas and explain their intent through written documentation, diagrams, presentations, or prototypes.
- You advocate for an idea without becoming personally attached to it.
- You listen to feedback, investigate its underlying concern, and seek additional context where needed.

Curiosity

- You ask questions and are interested in working with designers and product owners as well as map teams and other implementation partners.
- You are willing to learn unfamiliar tools, workflows, and technical concepts.
