About this role

ABOUT CAPCO

Capco, a Wipro company, is a global management and technology consultancy specialising in driving digital transformation across the financial services industry. Operating at the intersection of business and technology, Capco combines innovative thinking with unrivalled industry knowledge to fast-track initiatives for banking and payments, capital markets, wealth and asset management, and insurance. Our ingenuity is brought to life through our Innovation Labs, award-winning Be Yourself at Work culture, and a diverse, talented team across more than 30 offices worldwide.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

As a Knowledge Graph & Ontologies Specialist, you will lead the design and delivery of enterprise knowledge graph and semantic ontology solutions for Capco's financial services clients across Asia. Based in Singapore, you will serve as a senior practitioner and trusted advisor to insurers, wealth managers, private banks, and capital markets firms — helping them realise the value of connected, semantically rich data.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role. We are looking for someone who has built and deployed real-world knowledge graph solutions — ideally through experience at or with a graph technology vendor such as Stardog, Neo4j, Franz Inc. (AllegroGraph) or Ontotext (GraphDB), or through deep project delivery at a specialist consultancy.

You will join a growing data and AI practice in Asia and will have the opportunity to shape Capco's knowledge graph capability, contribute to thought leadership, and build lasting client relationships at the most senior levels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise knowledge graph architectures and domain ontologies for financial services clients.

- Define and govern ontological models representing complex financial data domains including insurance products, policy hierarchies, client entities, wealth portfolios, regulatory obligations, and counterparty relationships.

- Advise clients on the selection, configuration, and deployment of graph database and semantic technology platforms, including Stardog, Neo4j, AllegroGraph, GraphDB, and related tooling.

- Translate complex business requirements into formal ontological schemas, RDF/OWL models, and property graph structures appropriate to the use case.

- Collaborate with data architecture, AI/ML, and business intelligence teams to integrate knowledge graphs into broader enterprise data ecosystems, including data lakes, lakehouses, and AI pipelines.

- Conduct ontology reviews, maturity assessments, and gap analyses, providing clients with actionable roadmaps for knowledge graph adoption.

- Lead or support FIBO (Financial Industry Business Ontology) alignment, taxonomy development, and data governance initiatives.

- Drive the integration of knowledge graphs with large language model (LLM) and GenAI capabilities, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.

- Support business development activities including proposals, RFP responses, client workshops, and thought leadership publications.

- Mentor junior team members and play an active role in building Capco's knowledge graph practice and internal intellectual property across Asia.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Deliver high-quality knowledge graph and ontology solutions on time, within scope, and to client expectations.

- Ensure graph architectures align with enterprise data governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and security standards relevant to financial services in Singapore and Hong Kong.

- Maintain and grow senior client relationships, acting as a trusted long-term advisor.

- Uphold Capco's standards of quality, integrity, and professionalism in all client engagements.

- Contribute measurably to Capco Asia's knowledge graph capability, including the development of reusable assets, accelerators, and methodologies.

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL

- Bring genuine, hands-on delivery experience with knowledge graph and ontology technologies — not solely certification or coursework.

- Be comfortable advising C-suite executives, Chief Data Officers, and senior technology leaders within major financial institutions.

- Demonstrate a practitioner mindset: able to architect, build, and validate solutions, not just advise on them.

- Have deep familiarity with insurance and/or wealth management data domains, with secondary exposure to banking or capital markets.

- Be entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and excited by the opportunity to help build a specialist practice in a rapidly evolving area.

- Thrive in Capco's flat, non-hierarchical culture and be comfortable working across client and Capco teams simultaneously.

MANDATORY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Business & Domain

- Minimum 8 years of experience in data architecture, knowledge engineering, or a closely related discipline, with at least 5 years in financial services.

- Proven track record of delivering knowledge graph or ontology projects in commercial environments — with demonstrable, referenceable outcomes.

- Strong understanding of insurance and/or wealth management data domains, including policy structures, client hierarchies, product taxonomies, regulatory reporting, and entity resolution.

- Experience working in or alongside a graph technology vendor (e.g. Stardog, Neo4j, Franz Inc., Ontotext), or a specialist semantic/ontology consultancy such as SemanticArts, is highly advantageous.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex semantic concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Experience in management consulting, technology consultancy, or a senior in-house advisory role.

Technical

- Hands-on proficiency with one or more enterprise graph platforms: Stardog, Neo4j, Franz Inc. AllegroGraph, Ontotext GraphDB, or equivalent production-grade graph engines.

- Deep knowledge of semantic web and linked data standards: OWL, RDF, RDFS, SPARQL, SHACL, SKOS, and JSON-LD.

- Experience building, extending, or aligning domain ontologies — ideally including work with FIBO (Financial Industry Business Ontology) or analogous financial data standards.

- Solid understanding of both property graph and RDF triple-store paradigms, with the ability to select and justify the appropriate model for a given use case.

- Familiarity with knowledge graph integration patterns: ETL pipelines into graph stores, REST/GraphQL API layers, and embedding within cloud-native data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Proficiency with ontology authoring environments such as Protégé, TopBraid Composer, or vendor-specific tools.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Experience with LLM and GenAI integration over knowledge graphs, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), knowledge graph embeddings, or GraphRAG patterns.

- Exposure to CDMC (Cloud Data Management Capabilities), BCBS 239, MAS data governance requirements, or other regulatory data frameworks relevant to Asia-Pacific financial services.

- Familiarity with master data management (MDM), data lineage, and data catalogue platforms and how they intersect with knowledge graph capabilities.

- Prior experience operating across Singapore and Hong Kong markets, with an appreciation for the regulatory and competitive landscape in both jurisdictions.

- Secondary domain expertise in banking or capital markets (e.g. counterparty data, trade lifecycle, reference data management).

- Published thought leadership, conference presentations, or open-source contributions in the knowledge graph or semantic technology space.
