The PR & Communications team is responsible for communicating London’s growth narrative and positioning London & Partners as the authoritative voice on growth. Through its convening power and storytelling capability, the team showcases the city’s future and the breadth and depth of London & Partners’ expertise to high-value audiences around the world.

Overview of the Role

The Senior PR Manager plays a central role in delivering London’s growth narrative, seeking opportunities across digital channels, traditional media, in-person activity, and ‘Team London’ networks to promote London’s growth sectors. These include deep tech – such as quantum and AI – green innovation, the experience economy, and life sciences.

Key Tasks

The role targets priority audiences, including investors, talent, event organisers, and visitors, across key markets including the UK, Europe, North America, India, and China.

The role is responsible for developing compelling content and formats that build audience engagement and contribute to London’s economic growth, including by helping to attract foreign direct investment into London and delivering other measurable benefits for the city.

The role manages London & Partners’ PR presence in key markets, working with agencies and freelancers where required, and provides line management, direction, and support to two PR Managers.

Working closely with the Head of PR & Communications and Head of London Brand Marketing, the role supports the development of London’s growth narrative. This includes using audience insight, media monitoring, and data to identify emerging narratives, develop proactive communications opportunities, and respond appropriately to misinformation or disinformation that could affect perceptions of London.

The role also works with the Head of PR & Communications and Senior Communications Manager to strengthen London & Partners’ position as the authoritative voice on growth, while supporting wider reputation, issues and crisis management activity.

You’ll have/bring

Professional Skills:
- Strong experience in business PR and communications, including managing external, in-market support (consumer PR experience desirable)
- Has a thorough grounding in business, technology, city promotion, and economic development
- Able to work within an organisation’s business strategy
- Understands the value of research and insight
- Can set SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) objectives
- Can write plans outlining objectives, strategy, channels, and tactics that can be logically implemented
- Understands ongoing measurement and performance tracking
- Can write evaluation reports outlining results and future recommendations
- Is audience-oriented across written, audio, and visual content
- Has a clear, concise writing style
- Writes effective media material following storytelling principles
- Can write to a brief across a range of materials
- Understands how print, broadcast, and online media work
- Knows how to work effectively with different media professionals, including creators who influence audience engagement and public debate
- Understands how to prioritise and target media
- Can run an effective press office operation
- Understands the principles of reputation, issues and crisis management
- Understands media event management and can plan and deliver events on time and within budget
- Delivers effective internal and external presentations, briefings, and debriefings
- Can delegate effectively and manage upwards
- Builds positive working relationships across Marketing & Communications and wider teams
- Can manage budgets effectively
- Seeks opportunities to expand knowledge and contacts in a changing media environment and evolving AI landscape
- Recognised as a trusted PR and communications expert
