About this role
Are you a cybersecurity researcher interested in cyber-deception, empirical security, and adaptive cyber defense? Do you enjoy combining security experimentation with data-driven methods?
This fully funded two-year postdoctoral position offers you the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in cyber-deception and to work in an interdisciplinary and international research environment.
As part of the PSYFIND project, you will investigate how information obtained from interactions with deceptive systems can be used to better understand adversarial behavior and improve cyber-defense mechanisms. The project brings together expertise in cybersecurity and behavioral science, with the aim of developing more adaptive and effective approaches to cyber-deception.
You will join the cyber-deception research group at DTU Compute and work closely with the Principal Investigator, other researchers at DTU, and our collaborators at the University of Copenhagen and internationally. The position provides considerable freedom to shape your research within the broader scope of the project and to develop new ideas at the intersection of cyber-deception, empirical cybersecurity, and data-driven security.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The primary purpose of this position is to advance research in cyber-deception and adaptive cyber defense. You will conduct independent research while collaborating closely with researchers at DTU, the University of Copenhagen, and our international research partners.
Your primary tasks will be to:
- Conduct high-quality research in cyber-deception and disseminate results at leading cybersecurity conferences and journals
- Design and implement experimental cyber-deception systems and methods
- Collaborate with academic and research partners
- Contribute to the research activities of the broader cyber-deception group
- Opportunity to co-supervise MSc thesis projects related to the research
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in computer science, cybersecurity, computer engineering, or a closely related field.
We are looking for a researcher with a strong background in cybersecurity and experience with empirical or experimental research. Experience with cyber-deception, empirical or experimental cybersecurity, security data analysis, machine learning for security, Internet measurement, or AI-enabled cybersecurity is an advantage.
A strong publication record in leading international cybersecurity venues is expected, for example at conferences such as IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, USENIX Security, ACM CCS, NDSS, RAID, ACSAC, or comparable top-tier venues. Experience with implementing and evaluating cybersecurity research prototypes is an advantage.
An interest in interdisciplinary research and excellent written and spoken English are also important.
