ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Customer Delivery Porter, you will be the face of the John Lewis & Partners brand. Operating out of our Network Customer Delivery Hub, you will deliver, assemble, and install products directly in our customers' homes following planned delivery routes.
You will promote the Partnership brand by maintaining a professional and courteous manner toward other road users, delivering outstanding customer service, and ensuring full compliance with the Working Time Directive, Health & Safety legislation, and Partnership Policy.

In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £2.75 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £3.75 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.


Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Once fully trained, your day will see you start at the delivery hub you are based at before heading out on route, where your responsibilities will include:
- Act as an ambassador for John Lewis, keeping customer service as your top priority and delivering an outstanding experience.
-Start your shift at the delivery hub and assist the warehouse team with loading the lorry for the day’s scheduled routes.
-Manage deliveries and installations in route order using a Partner Device.
-Demonstrate respect and courtesy for customers' homes, handling unexpected situations calmly to find the best solutions.
-Support the driver in safely installing, assembling, and disconnecting free-standing appliances, furniture, and TVs.
-Efficiently demonstrate how newly installed products work and stay updated on new products and technologies.
-Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to Health & Safety guidance, manual handling procedures, and GDPR requirements.
- Keep delivery vehicles clean at all times and report any accidents, incidents, or near misses immediately to the management team.
Essential skills/experience you'll need
- Ability to manage the physical demands of the role, including lifting and handling large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.
-Strong communication skills and a customer-centric mindset.
Desirable skills/experience you may have
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
-Experience with home delivery, furniture assembly, or the installation of white goods and electrical items.
