About this role

Air Liquide Bulgaria has been on the domestic market since 1999 and is a countrywide recognised gas producer and supplier of technologies, services and gases for the food industry, large industries, healthcare and environment. Air Liquide Bulgaria has a team of 95 employees serving industrial customers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Mechanics Lead is responsible for overseeing and driving all mechanical maintenance, reliability, and engineering activities across production plants in Bulgaria and Romania (BG & RO). Reporting directly to the PPBOS Maintenance Manager, the primary goal of this role is to maximize the availability, safety, and efficiency of mechanical assets – including rotating equipment, static vessels, compressors, pumps, and piping systems – while minimizing downtime, supervising maintenance contractors, and managing mechanical maintenance expenditure effectively.

- Preventive & Corrective Mechanical Maintenance: Develop, implement, and optimize predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs specifically for mechanical systems (turbomachinery, high-pressure gas compressors, pumps, cryogenic equipment, piping, and valves) to maximize plant uptime using Maximo.

Lead technical troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for complex mechanical breakdowns and operational issues.

- Safety & Compliance (EHS): Ensure all mechanical maintenance tasks strictly comply with corporate EHS standards, pressure equipment directives, safety permits, and environmental regulations.
- Contractor & Vendor Management: Supervise third-party mechanical contractors, specialized equipment vendors, and service providers during routine work and major plant overhauls/turnarounds.

Provide technical guidance and quality control for mechanical execution on site, ensuring work is performed according to standards.

- Spare Parts Management: Manage mechanical spare parts inventory, establishing critical spare strategies for rotating and static equipment to balance operational risk and inventory cost.
- Projects & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the Cluster Engineering and Project teams to execute plant revamps, mechanical modifications, and capital projects at PP sites.

Analyze CMMS data to monitor reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR) and drive continuous improvement initiatives across mechanical assets.

Key Figures & KPI's

- ### Mechanical Equipment Reliability & Uptime: Continuous operation and high equipment availability across all BG & RO sites.
- ### Safety Target: Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) and full permit-to-work compliance during mechanical maintenance and turnaround activities.
- ### SOPs: All standard operating procedures (SOP’s) related to mechanical maintenance to be regularly reviewed and up to date.
- ### Technical Compliance: Monitor all work orders (WO) to be completed on time and control of MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair)

Are you a MATCH?

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

- 3-5 years of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance, reliability, or plant engineering within heavy industrial process environments (e.g., industrial gases, chemical, oil & gas, steel, or refining).
- Proven hands-on experience with rotating machinery (compressors, blowers, pumps) and static equipment (pressure vessels, piping networks).
- Experience supervising technical contractors during major plant turnarounds or revamps.

- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment mechanics, alignment, mechanical seals, vibration analysis, and pressure equipment regulations.
- Systems & Tools: Proficiency in using CMMS platforms (specifically Maximo) for work order planning and asset tracking.
- EHS & Quality: Strong commitment to occupational safety, isolation procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Languages: Business fluency in English and native/fluent command of Bulgarian
- Soft Skills & Leadership: Proactive mindset to anticipate failure modes; strong technical communication, contractor oversight, and collaborative teamwork skills.
