Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Co-op to join our IT Engineering team. The MES Co-op supports the Regional System Lead and cross-functional partners in maintaining and improving Manufacturing Execution Systems used across production sites. Under guidance, the student contributes to documentation, data analysis, testing, issue investigation, change preparation, and continuous-improvement activities. The assignment provides practical exposure to manufacturing IT, regulated operations, system lifecycle practices, and collaboration across local and global teams.

This role is located in our St. Joseph, MO office.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Completes assigned work accurately, safely, and on schedule with appropriate guidance.

- Produces clear, complete, and reusable documentation.

- Uses data and structured analysis to support troubleshooting and improvement.

- Demonstrates progress in MES, manufacturing IT, and system lifecycle knowledge.

- Communicates status, questions, risks, and findings proactively.

- Builds effective working relationships across IT, manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams.

- Delivers a defined project or improvement with measurable value by the end of the assignment.

Requirements

- Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.

- Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the internship/co-op .

- Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.

- Major or minor in related field of internship/co-op .

- Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university.

- Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.

Eligibility Requirements :

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

- Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

The below skills are desired, not required:

- SQL and relational database concepts and/or Oracle and PostgreSQL

- Windows or Linux operating systems

- Power BI, Python, PowerShell, or another scripting and reporting tool

- Software testing, requirements gathering, or process mapping

- IT service management concepts such as incident, problem, change, and request management

- Git, Azure DevOps, Jira, ServiceNow, or another work-tracking platform

- GMP, validation, cybersecurity, data integrity, or quality-management principles

- Manufacturing Execution Systems, enterprise applications, or production-support environments

- Open Shift Platform
