Job Summary:
Provides program and operational support to the Cardiac Catheterization Program. Collaborates with Leadership of Cardiac Catheterization in development and coordination of the unit. This individual will also function as a clinician providing specialized nursing care to inpatient and outpatients within the Cardiac Catheterization area(s) undergoing diagnostic and cardiac procedures. Other lead RN responsibilities include but are not limited to: coordinates the daily clinical operations of the department; trains nursing staff; coordinates nursing in-services, Maintains above average nursing skills in all aspects of cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures; provides assistance to technologists, registered nurses and other physicians; participates in research programs as needed/requested and preparation for Joint Commission regulatory requirements. The lead is available for 24/7 call.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
A minimum of 2 years of Cardiology experience with a focus on Cardiac Catheterization labs or equivalent is required, Prior leadership experience is preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
Degree in Nursing (Baccalaureate or Graduate) is required.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, staff, physicians, and the public, both inside and outside the facility. Versatility to perform a wide variety of duties, tasks and assignments as needs arise or are directed. Willingness to cross-train/serve in other departments is essential. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family, significant others, employees and the general public.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or a Multi-state Nursing license from participating state in the NLC (Nurse licensure Compact). American Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Health Care provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required upon hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within three months of hire.
