3rd Shift: 9 pm – 7am, There is a need for the incumbent to have availability for 3 rd shift flexible hours, and occasionally alternate shift.

Pay Rate: $23.15/hr + $1.00 of shift differential

This position supports Quality and Food Safety programs, with a primary third shift focus on sanitation verification, pre-operational inspections, environmental monitoring, and ensuring equipment and production areas meet food safety requirements prior to start-up . The FSQ Technician works closely with Sanitation while maintaining independent FSQ verification responsibilities, including identifying deficiencies, communicating findings, verifying corrective actions, and documenting results. The technician also provides back-up support for FSQ Lead Technicians, FSQ Technicians, and the FSQ Clerk as needed and reviews documentation for programs including Product Holds, Formulation and Label Verification, Foreign Material Prevention, SOPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and applicable data entry . The technician must exercise sound judgment when interpreting program requirements and determining appropriate

actions when food safety or quality requirements are not met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Food Safety, Sanitation & Pre-Operational Responsibilities – Performs and documents pre-operational inspections of production areas, equipment, and applicable food-contact surfaces to verify sanitary conditions prior to the start of production. Works closely with the Sanitation team during third shift to identify, communicate, and document sanitation deficiencies requiring corrective action. Performs follow-up inspections and verification of corrective actions when unacceptable sanitation conditions are identified. Communicates unresolved or significant food safety and sanitation concerns appropriate FSQ, Sanitation, and Production leadership. Coordinates the Environmental Pathogen Monitoring program , including sampling of food-contact and non-food-contact sites and verification or follow-up of corrective actions as required. Monitors compliance with applicable SSOPs, sanitation procedures, GMPs, and food safety requirements during sanitation activities and production. Maintains accurate and complete records related to pre-op inspections, sanitation verification, environmental monitoring, corrective actions, and other assigned FSQ programs. Monitors and verify product thermal processes as required. Uses technical knowledge and established program requirements to assist with decisions when food safety or quality events occur, including thermal process deviations, foreign material incidents, labeling concerns, and formulation errors. Learns and maintains working knowledge of product traceability within the electronic A/S400 inventory system. Places appropriate product on non-ship hold when required and performs applicable follow-up and verification activities necessary to remove product from hold. Communicates food safety, sanitation, hold, and other FSQ concerns through clear and detailed written and verbal communication with applicable hourly and salaried team members. Provides support for other Food Safety and Quality activities when required.

- Food Quality Responsibilities - Monitors food quality attributes during production runs as assigned. Reviews and verify quality records for accuracy and compliance. Supports Process Quality Control programs by auditing process control checks, including product temperatures, piece size, and other established quality attributes. Monitors documentation associated with label verification and product formulation programs. Identifies and communicates deviations from established quality requirements and assists with appropriate follow-up.

- Auditing and other Communication Responsibilities - Performs or assists with daily GMP audits in production and sanitation-related areas and communicates deficiencies to the appropriate team members. Provides coaching or clarification of food safety, sanitation, and GMP expectations when appropriate. Performs in-process and final reviews of documentation generated in support of food safety and quality programs. Maintains a high level of attention to detail when reviewing FSQ and sanitation-related documentation. Performs assigned sections of routine internal process and facility audits and appropriately documents findings. Communicates significant pre-op, sanitation, food safety, and quality concerns to appropriate leadership to support an effective transition from Sanitation to Production . Supports effective communication between FSQ, Sanitation, Production, and other departments when corrective actions or follow-up activities are required.
- Helps to maintain, coordinate, and provide continuous improvement to the Process and Quality Control Program.
- Works with USDA, outside consultants and auditors as needed.
- Will be required to work with and develop equipment and ideas deemed to be confidential information and/or trade secrets owned by the company. This person will be required to protect the company's rights in and ownership of those trade secrets and confidential information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, stepping up and down are required of this position. May work different shifts and will spend approximately 20% of time at desk and 80% of time in the plant, depending on coverage needed and issues to address in production areas.

Work in production areas is performed in temperatures ranging from -10 °F in freezers to 100+ °F in oven rooms. Will be exposed to high noise levels requiring hearing protection, CO2, humidity, electrical hazards, and mechanical hazards. Will work in areas that are wet or have fat/oil on the floor. Freezer may have frost/ice on the floor. Incumbents will be required to receive fall-protection training and operate a scissors lift in order to obtain swabs of areas not reachable from ground level.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Must be 18 years of age or older (all plant positions)
- Demonstrated pattern of dependability.
- Strong computer skills, experience with Excel and Word programs - testing may be required.
- Possess strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, organizational skills, ability to manage time, work independently.
- Ability to safely operate a scissors lift and complete required fall-protection and equipment-operation training to perform inspections and environmental sampling in areas not accessible from ground level.
- Available for flexible hours.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- At least one to three years’ experience in meat or food industry is desirable but not required.
