About this role
A Feature Function Owner is responsible for a specific feature or system, from its initial concept through development, implementation, and maintenance. They act as the go-to expert, bridging the gap between customer needs and technical teams, and ensuring the function meets its quality, performance, and safety requirements.
Key duties include defining requirements, managing stakeholders, coordinating with various cross-functional teams (such as software and systems engineers), and validating the final platform product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements management: Gathering and translating user needs into clear, actionable requirements for development teams.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Acting as the main point of contact and collaborating with a wide range of teams, including software, hardware, product management, and design.
- Function development: Leading the development process from early concept and design to final implementation, often across multiple technical domains.
- Quality and validation: Ensuring the function's reliability, performance, and safety by overseeing testing, validation, and release processes.
- Stakeholder alignment: Managing and aligning stakeholder expectations, ensuring the final function aligns with overall product goals and customer needs.
- Innovation and strategy: Staying up to date with industry trends and proposing improvements for existing functions.
- Compliance: Ensuring the function is compliant with regulatory bodies and market restrictions (Euro NCAP, UN, GSR, NHTSA, etc.).
In practice, acting as a Platform Feature Owner brings responsibility across the whole function chain. This includes:
- Staying up to date with industry trends and regulations and ensuring our roadmap is updated accordingly.
- Formulating requirements and test methods where necessary.
- Being part of the daily work and discussions in terms of technical function development.
- Acting as a main stakeholder for validating the functionality described and being the main driver of the improvement and issue resolution process across the entire ADAS stack - both in terms of simulation, resimulation, and real-world testing - to always have current KPIs available.
