About this role

We live in a world where technology is rapidly changing the educational experiences of students and teachers everywhere, and we have the opportunity to shape how this change takes place. Kira's mission is to harness transformative AI technologies to make world-class personalized teaching and learning accessible to everyone. We are a rapidly growing startup backed by top-tier Venture Capital funds including New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Andrew Ng's AI Fund, and Primavera.

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Business Operations to help build and run the operational infrastructure behind Kira as we scale. This is a highly cross-functional role spanning business operations, financial planning, spend management, vendor and corporate operations, compliance, and company reporting. You will work closely with Kira’s leadership team and partner across Finance, Legal, Engineering, Security, and other functions to ensure the company has the systems, processes, and information it needs to operate effectively.

The right person is equally comfortable digging into company spend, coordinating a SOC 2 audit, preparing investor reporting, managing a vendor relationship, or taking an ambiguous operational problem and figuring out how to solve it. Our office is in Tribeca and we ask that employees work from one of the two locations and come into the office in-person 4 days a week (Wednesdays WFH).

What You'll Do

- Build Kira's board decks, investor updates, and company KPI dashboards, bringing together financial, commercial, and operating metrics.
- Manage due diligence requests and the data room, and support leadership through fundraising.
- Run Kira's SOC 2 program year-round, including audits, controls, evidence, documentation, and vendor reviews.
- Handle data privacy and security compliance for customer contracts, from district questionnaires to Kira's public privacy documentation, in partnership with Engineering and Legal.
- Manage vendors and spend end to end, including Ramp, approvals, procurement, contracts, renewals, and accounts payable.
- Partner with our finance advisors on budgeting, spend planning, and performance analysis.
- Take company-level operational projects, including insurance and corporate filings, from problem definition through implementation.

What We're Looking For

- 5–8+ years in business operations, strategy and operations, consulting, or investment banking, including Business Operations experience at a high-growth startup.
- Experience preparing board and investor materials and supporting a fundraise or due diligence process.
- Hands-on experience with SOC 2 or a similar compliance program, or with customer security and privacy reviews.
- Experience managing spend, procurement, and vendor operations.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, with comfort building models, dashboards, and executive-ready decks.
- A track record of building processes from scratch and driving work across Engineering, Legal, Finance, and leadership.
- Clear, concise communication and a high degree of ownership in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.

Preferred

- Experience at an EdTech company or another company selling to schools, districts, or the public sector, including familiarity with FERPA and state student privacy laws.
- Experience with Ramp or similar spend management tools.
- Experience working alongside a fractional or outsourced finance and accounting team.

What We Offer

- Competitive compensation and equity. For applicants in the US, the salary range for this role is $155,000- $175,000, depending on relevant experience and skill set.
- Medical, dental, vision and life insurance, including a medical insurance plan with 100% coverage of employee premiums.
- Flexible PTO policy and company holidays.
- DoorDash credit for lunch daily.
- Wellhub Membership: 100% company-paid access to premium gym networks (Orangetheory, SoulCycle), 60+ wellness apps (Headspace, MyFitnessPal, Apple Fitness+), and 1:1 coaching sessions spanning fitness, mental health, nutrition, and sleep.
- Dog friendly office 🐶.
