Position Summary

The Dairy Supervisor provides leadership and direction for the daily operation of the Dairy Department. This position helps ensure dairy products are properly stocked, rotated, merchandised, and maintained at appropriate temperatures while supporting excellent customer service, inventory control, shrink reduction, cleanliness, and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide leadership and direction to Dairy Department associates.
- Ensure dairy shelves, coolers, and displays remain fully stocked, organized, clean, and visually appealing.
- Stock and replenish milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, refrigerated beverages, and other dairy products as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to maintain appropriate product quantities.
- Receive, organize, and properly store incoming dairy merchandise.
- Follow proper product rotation procedures and regularly check expiration and sell-by dates.
- Monitor product freshness and quality and promptly remove damaged, expired, or unsellable merchandise.
- Maintain proper cold-chain procedures and ensure refrigerated products are stored at appropriate temperatures.
- Assist with inventory management and help identify opportunities to reduce shrink, damages, and product loss.
- Maintain organized backstock and ensure products are easily accessible for efficient replenishment.
- Ensure promotional and advertised products are properly stocked, displayed, and signed.
- Maintain accurate pricing, shelf tags, and product placement throughout the department.
- Build and maintain displays according to merchandising standards and promotional plans.
- Monitor department conditions throughout the shift and respond to low-stock items and operational needs.
- Maintain clean and organized dairy coolers, shelves, cases, storage areas, and workspaces.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety requirements.
- Ensure associates safely use department equipment and follow proper product-handling procedures.
- Communicate inventory concerns, out-of-stocks, equipment issues, staffing needs, and other operational concerns to store leadership.
- Assist with opening and closing responsibilities as assigned.
- Support other departments and store operations as needed.

Leadership Expectations

- Lead by example and maintain a professional, positive, and productive work environment.
- Provide associates with clear assignments, expectations, and appropriate follow-up.
- Train and coach associates on stocking, rotation, merchandising, food safety, and department standards.
- Monitor associate productivity and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, urgency, and excellent customer service.
- Maintain a visible presence in the department and respond quickly to customer and associate needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve product availability, department organization, merchandising, and shrink.
- Maintain consistent communication with store leadership regarding department performance and operational needs.
- Help ensure the department is clean, stocked, organized, and customer-ready throughout the day.

Qualifications

- Previous retail, grocery, dairy, stocking, or related experience preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of dairy products, stocking, rotation, merchandising, and inventory practices preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to provide direction and support to associates.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Must be dependable, organized, professional, and able to demonstrate good judgment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, squat, kneel, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to regularly lift and move dairy products, milk crates, cases, boxes, and department supplies as required.
- Ability to push and maneuver stocking carts and other department equipment.
- Ability to work for extended periods in refrigerated and cooler environments.
- Ability to safely operate stocking and department equipment after receiving appropriate training.
