Partnerships Sales Director

About the team and the role:

The Partnerships Sales Director at Goldin will play a critical role in maximizing the commercial value of inventory and opportunities generated through Goldin’s rapidly expanding partnerships business across professional and collegiate sports, leagues, teams, athletes, agencies, entertainment, music, brands, and other strategic partners.

This role will have a particular emphasis on sports and will be responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy for premium inventory received through Goldin’s team, league, and athlete partnerships, including game-used and game-worn memorabilia, historic artifacts, experiences, collections, and other unique assets.

Reporting directly to the Head of Partnerships, this individual will serve as the primary sales lead for partnership-generated inventory and will work closely with Goldin’s sales, consignment, auction, cataloging, marketing, content, authentication, and customer-facing teams to maximize revenue and sell-through across every partnership.

The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of sports memorabilia and the collectibles marketplace, understands how to evaluate and price unique assets, has strong relationships with collectors and buyers, and knows how to create demand around premium inventory. This person should be equally comfortable evaluating the potential value of a game-used jersey, developing a sales strategy around a major collection, speaking directly with a high-value collector, and advising internal teams on how and when an asset should be brought to market.

This is a highly commercial role for someone who understands that acquiring great inventory is only the beginning - the ultimate objective is maximizing its value once it reaches Goldin.

What you will accomplish:

Own the sales strategy for partnership inventory:

- Lead the sales and monetization strategy for inventory generated through Goldin’s partnerships with professional and collegiate teams, leagues, athletes, agencies, entertainment properties, brands, and other strategic partners.
- Serve as the primary commercial owner for partnership-generated inventory from the time assets are identified through auction, sale, and post-sale analysis.
- Develop pricing, valuation, auction placement, timing, and buyer-targeting strategies designed to maximize revenue and sell-through.
- Evaluate game-used and game-worn memorabilia, historic artifacts, player collections, experiences, and other unique assets based on market demand, comparable sales, scarcity, provenance, player significance, historical context, and collector behavior.
- Establish appropriate auction estimates, reserves, opening bids, and other pricing recommendations in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Identify the highest-value and most commercially significant inventory within each partnership and develop individualized sales strategies around those assets.
- Recommend the appropriate sales channel for each opportunity, including premium auction, weekly auction, private sale, live commerce, curated collection, or other Goldin sales channels.

Drive collector demand and revenue:

- Develop and maintain relationships with high-value collectors, buyers, dealers, and other participants across the sports memorabilia and broader collectibles marketplace.
- Proactively identify and directly engage prospective buyers for partnership inventory before and during auction cycles.
- Build targeted buyer lists around specific teams, players, sports, categories, collections, and individual assets.
- Work closely with Goldin’s existing sales and customer-facing teams to coordinate outreach to relevant collectors and maximize bidding activity.
- Develop strategies to convert team and player fan bases into active Goldin bidders and collectors.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell partnership inventory to existing Goldin customers across sports cards, memorabilia, entertainment, music, and other collecting categories.
- Maintain consistent awareness of buyer activity, bidding behavior, market demand, and emerging collecting trends.

Maximize the value of Goldin’s sports partnerships:

- Develop a deep understanding of the inventory commitments, economics, and commercial objectives associated with each Goldin partnership.
- Work closely with the Head of Partnerships to forecast potential sales performance and identify the assets most important to the success of each relationship.
- Provide market feedback that can inform future partnership negotiations, including expected asset values, player demand, inventory mix, quantity, and category performance.
- Analyze performance across teams, players, leagues, sports, and asset categories to identify opportunities to improve future inventory selection and commercialization.
- Help determine which players, games, milestones, postseason moments, historic assets, and experiences should be prioritized based on collector demand and revenue potential.
- Develop repeatable sales strategies that can scale as Goldin adds additional team, league, athlete, and other partnerships.

Develop compelling go-to-market strategies:

- Partner with Marketing, Content, Cataloging, Authentication, and Partnerships to ensure premium assets are positioned and presented in a way that maximizes collector interest.
- Identify the provenance, historical significance, milestones, narratives, and other characteristics that should be emphasized when bringing an asset to market.
- Help develop dedicated auction events, themed collections, milestone campaigns, and other sales initiatives around partnership inventory.
- Provide commercial input into photography, catalog descriptions, content, social media, email marketing, PR, and other promotional efforts surrounding high-value partnership assets.
- Coordinate sales strategies around major sporting events, playoffs, championships, player milestones, anniversaries, Hall of Fame inductions, and other moments capable of increasing demand.

Build market intelligence and sales discipline:

- Monitor auction results, private sales, competitor activity, pricing trends, and broader developments across sports memorabilia and collectibles.
- Maintain detailed comparable-sales data and market intelligence for relevant players, teams, leagues, asset types, and collecting categories.
- Track sales performance and key metrics across partnership inventory, including estimates, hammer prices, sell-through, buyer participation, and revenue.
- Develop regular reporting for the Head of Partnerships and senior leadership regarding partnership sales performance, market trends, and future opportunities.
- Use sales results and collector feedback to continuously refine pricing, inventory, and go-to-market strategies.
- Help establish scalable processes and best practices for monetizing partnership inventory as Goldin’s partnerships business continues to grow.

What you will bring:

- 5+ years of experience in sports memorabilia, collectibles, auctions, sales, business development, private client sales, or a closely related field.
- Deep knowledge of sports memorabilia and the broader collectibles marketplace, particularly game-used and game-worn memorabilia.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and price collectible assets using comparable sales, market knowledge, scarcity, provenance, historical significance, and buyer demand.
- Strong understanding of professional and collegiate sports, athletes, teams, leagues, major historical moments, and the factors that drive collector demand.
- Proven track record of generating revenue and developing relationships with collectors, buyers, dealers, or high-net-worth clients.
- Existing relationships within the sports memorabilia and collectibles community strongly preferred.
- Strong commercial instincts and the ability to identify which assets and opportunities have the greatest revenue potential.
- Ability to translate market knowledge into actionable pricing, sales, and inventory recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal presence.
- Comfort interacting with executives, athletes, agents, teams, leagues, collectors, high-net-worth individuals, and other high-profile partners.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with sales data, comparable transactions, forecasts, and performance reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple auctions, partnerships, assets, and sales initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly collaborative and comfortable working across Partnerships, Sales, Consignment, Marketing, Content, Cataloging, Authentication, Operations, Finance, and Customer Support.
- Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce and proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and related business tools.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically for auctions, partner meetings, sporting events, trade shows, and other industry events.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant industry experience welcomed.

Preferred candidate profile:

We are looking for someone who is:

- Deeply knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about sports memorabilia and collectibles.
- Commercially driven and motivated by maximizing revenue and sales performance.
- Highly connected to the collector community and comfortable developing new buyer relationships.
- Able to look at an asset and quickly understand its potential market, buyer profile, comparable sales, and likely value.
- Equally comfortable working with a six-figure or seven-figure trophy asset and developing a scalable strategy for recurring partnership inventory.
- Proactive and willing to personally engage buyers rather than relying exclusively on inbound demand or marketing.
- Analytical enough to make disciplined pricing and inventory decisions while also possessing the instincts that come from meaningful experience in the collectibles market.
- Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where Goldin’s partnerships business is growing rapidly and new categories and opportunities are continually emerging.
- Passionate about sports, culture, history, storytelling, and premium collectibles.

Compensation and level:

Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience, industry relationships, sales track record, and strategic capabilities.
