- Participate in the shift-bidding process and accept assigned schedules, including split shifts and changes based on daily operational needs.
- Work weekends and holidays as scheduled, supporting consistent inpatient coverage.
- Complete an initial full-time training period and then transition to a flexible schedule, maintaining at least 30 hours per week after training.
- Communicate clearly with nursing, laboratory, and other clinical staff to ensure accurate test ordering, specimen integrity, and patient identification.

Work Environment This position is based in a hospital inpatient setting with responsibilities that include specimen processing and frequent interaction with clinical staff and patients. You will float between multiple facilities in the Riverside region, including Riverside, Moreno Valley, Murrieta, Temecula, and Perris, and must be willing to commute to these locations as needed. The role covers all three shifts, with schedules determined through a bidding process and daily call-ins; call-outs can begin as early as 5 a.m. During the initial 30-day training period, you will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., receiving 40 hours per week on first shift at a primary training location (typically in Riverside). Training may extend to 12 months, during which you will be scheduled full-time to build proficiency in procedures and workflows. After training, you will participate in shift bidding and may work any shift, including split shifts (for example, 4 hours at one location and 4 hours at another or split time at the same site). While hours are not guaranteed at 40 per week after training, you can expect a minimum of approximately 30 hours per week, with many shifts arising from same-day call-outs due to union scheduling agreements. You must be open to working weekends and holidays; the team will attempt to rotate weekend coverage, but full flexibility is required. The environment is unionized, and contingent workers are scheduled after current employees bid for hours, meaning many available shifts are driven by operational needs and same-day coverage requests. The dress code requires scrubs, and you will work in a clinical setting that emphasizes safety, compliance, and patient-centered care. The organization offers access to resources such as a care roadmap, employee discount and benefits platforms, and online learning tools, creating an environment that supports both professional growth and work-life balance.
