Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Construction Inspector IV to be based in Phoenix, Arizona. This candidate will be responsible for training new employees and setting project deadlines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Relies on extensive experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
- Performs daily field inspections and maintains comprehensive inspection records and documentation.
- Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure project completion standards are met.
- Tracks quality assurance progress and prepares detailed reports on inspection findings and compliance status.
- Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.
- Identifies non-conformances and recommends corrective actions to ensure adherence to project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to communicate inspection results and resolve field issues.
- Trains and mentors junior inspection staff on inspection procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards specific to transportation projects.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards throughout the construction process.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- HS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
- US Citizenship is required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- City of Phoenix work experience and familiarity with City of Phoenix standards and specifications.
- Pavement preservation and asphalt paving inspection experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in documenting inspection findings and maintaining accurate field records.
- Traffic control inspection experience.
- Professional certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) or equivalent transportation inspection credentials.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with quality control testing methods and inspection software/technology platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed technical reports.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Prior experience training, mentoring, or supervising junior inspection staff.
